OE sat nav - yes or no?

For me, it looks basic but with the latest maps works well enough and gives more traffic info than Waze (which I use at the same time) if you know where to look. I also have an intravee, so the screen is required to get the most out of that bit of kit.

Steve - you can permanently mute the voice directions, it's in the manual ;)

As for who moves their seats anyway... Well, I move mine back as far as it will go every time I get out as it helps save the bolster on the driver seat - something which, if wrecked, definitely affects the desirability of the car. I also tweak my seat position quite a lot when on long journeys or hooning, so I'd have electric every time. I don't understand the point of choosing lighter seats unless you're planning on it being a track weapon. And then you'd go aftermarket if you're serious about it.

I bought mine without satnav as..
3. Wanted the lightest possible Z4MC as they are heavy (got manual seats too). "Every little counts"..

That's a first ive ever heard for not wanting Nav  Really ? :P Have you removed the glovebox door yet ?
Have you changed your backboxes from OEM ? They weigh crazy heavy compared with aftermarket boxes

You could lose more weight by taking some laxatives :)

The electric memory seats are berluddy useful! Particularly if you have more than one driver.

Weight saving, lol!

Totally agree with the OP's logic. Not a fan of the Sat Nav here. The flip up thing is annoying and I don't use the Nav. A few pounds less weight is always a good thing, if it comes at no cost else where. If I were looking for a new Zed I would be looking for one without Nav. :D

So you're saying you have the pro nav and yet have not installed an Intravee II?

To be honest I have no idea. I have the flip up Nav thing. Not a fan. Why do you need sat nav if you have a perfectly good memory. :D

... and there is only one road in Cornwall .... ;)

I would be lost without the build in satnav. So many areas don't have phone signal so no maps, abroad you don't have phone signal at all for GPS. TomTom gets lost all the time, can not calculate quick enough (typical example was our recent roadtrip through the Alps where there are junctions in the tunnel - the TomTom would have switched off as soon as you get in the tunnel).

I have both TomTom and a new Garmin, both pretty useless on the routing. You can not force the motorway route from Gatwick to Southampton but it only knows the coastal route - very annoying but looking at a forum, normal for them. Have to set something like routing with the most fuel efficient route to get the motorways to work.
