Odd problem with average speed/mpg readout

I've just discovered a strange issue with my mpg and average speed readout, it won't nudge past 20.2 mph, even if i've been driving on a motorway for 2 hours at 70mph, and averaging way above 20.

Its not a big problem, and the speedo/odometer work fine, just the trip computer thing.

any ideas?

Have you reset it ?

Just press and hold the selection button and it should go to zero and restart calculating.

:D

Doesn't it reset with the odometer reset button (under the speedo)? Or do you mean holding in the actual trip computer button on the stalk?

Hold the button on the end of the stalk with MPG or AV speed on the display. Hold it for 3-5secs and it will reset.

It only resets when you reset it as per what scotty597 said.

If it has thousands of miles under it it will take ages to increase.

Ah I didn't know this. Thought it reset with the odometer reset by the clock.

I've learned something new today, thanks guys :)

Not directed at anyone in particular and I'm not being mean or snotty but there are numerous combinations of options over the years that vary just a little bit .... so what is the first thing you do when you get a new car ?

You RTFM. :poke: :poke: :poke:

For those who think that reading the f***ing manual isn't manly, if you know how to do something you'll never have to ask how ...

I do think the manual says it restarts the calculation when you start a new journey but it only resets from the stick button.

It can be used on multiple journeys to build a profile or reset for individual periods or journeys to define the profile of different roads and/or speeds.

I use mine to manage the fuel consumption when I am being frugal ( I actually don't know what this means but it sounds like its plausible).

Correct

"Frugal"? wtf??

SARS, in a previous life I dealt with lots of computerized drives and controllers, at a half a million dollars a day in down time, not knowing how to fix or program something wasn't an option...I told my guys to RTFM more than once

We could get away with it with our cars from the 70's but not now.... Now if I could just get my other half to read a manual my world would be complete. :poke:
