Is that a Garmin in there?

Perhaps that is why the engine management and EML lights are on :D

It looks like the screen has been molested as well as it is not the OEM screen.

couldnt see anything satnav related due to the plastic wooden dash making my eyes bleed.

just had an email off the owner - its a Garmin 1490TV

http://www.gadgetspeak.com/gadget/article.rhtm/758/610666/Garmin_Nuvi_1490TV.html

Have emailed him back how he went about installing it

thats a very clever mod - looks like they slotted a garmin unit when the stock screen would be.

A couple of things though - i presume its still a touch screen - which would make it a bit of a reach and is it integrated to the stock head unit or speakers?

Also personally he should have swaped out the nav hu for a stock cd player one for a cleaner install.

I quite like the idea of what is done here, it sure makes a retrofit a lot easier and you can download garmin roadbooks... Gotta look into this! Any how to on this by any chance? (as this is quite an old post)

Not bad.
But I think I will let mine age gracefully. Can't be happier than using my iphone for nav duty.

im sure when i have been looking into stuff recently i saw something that replaced the original satnav and the head unit as a package...

that being said it could have been from overseas, i could have misunderstood/it could have been something like this and i may be totally wrong i look at that much stuff my head was spinning.

its a nice idea tho, lets face it doesnt garming/tomtom do somehting like this ina clio?

Well, if you find it, please shout out about it. I have always thought something like the above pic ... but using the new forthcoming 7inch iPad ... would be tech heaven perfect .. and even better if it was possible to link to an external antennae for internet/mobile connection.

You'd have to be prepared to replace it every year though. :D
