Odd Knocking sound from rear.

hey all

Not having much luck with my Z currently. Its a 2004 2.2 manual.

Got an odd knocking sound from the rear when you drive away with a jerk or a jolt. couple off knock knocks etc. Its quite loud.

No noise over speed bumps or at speed?

its had new shocks, on rear. everything looks tight and i cant see anything obvious. i need to get it in the air and have a proper route round.

Anyone heard of anything like this before?

Ok - I'm so can't link to it from phone, but could be your drive input flange. There is a thread on this somewhere.

Does it make the noise when driving off and when you release throttle in 1st and 2nd gear?

You could jack up each side at the back and move each wheel to see if there is any unusual play?. Check the tight ess of the wheel bolts, A friend had tyres replaced and they hadn't tightened them properly?.

hiya

yeah first to second mainly. but i can get it to do it in other gears if i change the gear with a bit off a jolt?

drive imput flange sounds a pricey job?

If its the input flange, it's not doing any damage. It's more annoying than anything else.

I had mine done at an Indy for £250 (if memory serves me right). Dealership prices will be more of course
