Odd hole behind armrest?

Ok, A potentially stupid question coming up so go easy.... :D

What the dickens is the squarish curved hole behind the armrest designed for?
 
It's for the BMW Assist buttons - assuming you've had it installed - otherwise it's just a cubbyhole.

mmm sweets... i never thought of that.

i usually chuck my phone in it, doesnt work too good around corners though :x

+1 where my phone gets stashed :D

you must have a huge phone if it falls out round corners :o
 
or i just go round corner too fast? :driving:


its only the harsh bends where it goes walkies, and no its not the smallest phone ever lol
 
I routed my I pod cable through the centre console too it and after removing it and drilling a hole just big enough for the plug to enter,thats where my i pod lives
 
nice mod! i bet it looks good in there aswell (better than the ashtray)

It used to be my cell phone....until I got an Iphone. Then it was a gate card holder, also occasionally blue tooth headset. I'll have to try the change thing when I get the car back because I hate loose change elsewhere.
