ODB2 Port not communicating

Anyone have any issues with their ODB2 Port not communicating?

My 2005 Z4 e85 3.0 had been enjoying the garage through the winter and now that spring has sprung, I wanted to take her out. Driving out of the neighborhood, I noticed my inspection/registration were due, so I went to get an inspection but it failed. The tech said their computer couldn't establish communication and connect to car through the ODB2 port. Tried again at another location with same results, and an error code check at AutoZone also failed.

I checked the two fuses that connect to ODB and both tested good (continuity and resistance). Checking the ODB port itself with my voltmeter, it showed good continuity to ground on pins 4/5, 12v power at pin 16 with ignition off and 12v power at pin 1 with ignition on.

I also don't see any signs of any animals making the car a home that may have chewed through the wires.

Is there anything else I can check at home before taking her to the shop? Is there an easy way to get to the back of the ODB port and check the wires without having to take dashboard apart?
