OCD Daily / Weekly / Monthly Checks

This might be a bit too much or too little for the OCD on the Forum but thought it would be good to get a list together of all the checks regularly done on the E85's / E86. They're not getting any younger and regular checks might help some!

Feel free to add to the list. Maybe end up with a How To or something!


Things to check to keep the car in a half decent condition.

Daily before driving
Check for Bird s**t and remove ASAP.
Check for scratches / dents before driving
Dashboard lights all normal

Weekly All of the above +
Tyre Pressure
Check tyres for tread depth and damage
Check Coolant level
Soft Top works without any strange noises or errors
All Lights work as intended
Check Headlights for fogging
Oil level is ok
Check MPG is normal
Vacuum Softtop.

Monthly All of the above +
Check rear springs for damage
Check for any noises from Window mechanism
Roof Drainage and other drainage holes
Clear leaves or debris from grills / under bonnet etc
Check Exhaust for any movement
Connect Cable and check OBC for errors

Good list, I'm sure others will have something random. Mike goes mad at me cause I'm constantly up at the window looking out and checking for bird crap, it's several times an hour. If any is spotted I am straight out with warm water, a microfiber cloth, zymol and some liquid wax

I also check round the car for scratches etc everytime I'm outside even though it's not moved in days/weeks and the only other car next to it is ours but then it has had an altercation with a hedge trimmer when the gardener was round. I also check the wheels and tyres just as much.

Reset windows? Why, what happens to them?

Mine have not been reset but they do what they're supposed to do - you can see through them and they go up and down.

Do they not drop slightly when you open and close the door, sometimes this fails so you need to reset them?
