OBDII Scanner / Software

Interesting ethics isn't it. It's ok to join a forum and get technical support for essentially "stolen" software so we can save money at dealers, but if there was a forum offering cheap stolen cars or car parts and offering support on how to service them we'd all be outraged and demanding it was shut down.

Just sayin'

I brought:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Diagnostic-Software-Cable-lead-Ediabas-Inpa-DIS-SSS-OBD-lead-/200863433690?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item2ec464c3da

A few days ago, came quickly and although it is a drawn out process to setup it worked quite well. Also comes with all the software on dvd's. I have been able to reset the steering angle sensor using DIS which came as part of this.

Just ordered one of these from ebay will post review also!

Sorry no, they are available on any number of dodgy sites out there if you want to risk your computer being infected with all sorts of nasty things. I was happy to buy the correct OBC lead from BMW Technics so that I had a 'one click' install and support from someone who knew what he was doing. You will have to buy a lead anyway so why not get one which will work.

In the first instance I sought a set of software and a lead from eBay which I finally got working (took hours and hours) but the supplier couldn't (or wouldn't) help me use the software. So I decided to go with BMW Technic and get the support to be able to use the software.

I've got a lead that works thanks so I would be paying $30 for something I have and software from somebody who doesn't even own it

I just thought as you had the software you could post it up, but if your gonna get all pissy about it don't worry!

They are also charging for that software too which imo is wrong

If you just want the software, then to allow you to download it would be hard unless someone is willing to host it. It come on 3 DVD compressed.
