OBD programming -help

Hey all,

So I bought a OBD cable and want to change a few options and turn off the bulb out indicator however I have no idea and nor does my brother in law who is a web programmer on how to use the software.

Is there anyone near me (Skipton) who is familiar with this foreign language?

I used the MyCarly app last weekend to code some options on a 7 Series and on my Z4. It has the tick box option to activate/deactivate options. Not sure if it would reset warning lights. Their website is here >

There is a Lite version that you can use to see what it is like and what options might be available. Their Help is pretty good too and they come back to you quite quickly. Full app is £40 so it might be worth splitting it with someone else who wants some coding/analysis done.

I'm sure sss is the tick boxes software, I know Neil that runs zedfest is quite clued up, forum name is Mac 2470 I think

I really want American drl's turning on but I don't even think we have the option. Not that anyone seems to have found anyway

Don't you just remove the side light bulbs

Yeah you can do that or fit non canbus led bulbs but you then get the bulb out error on the dash which is annoying

That Carly software for iOS looks really good! Anyone know if it works with other aftermarket wifi based OBD readers? Or just their own?

Have a look for bmw coders online and there should be a guide. Failing that then search for an NCS Expert guide. All you need to do is download the trace, change options available, then reupload to the car. They are in German however, so either search for what the options do or use ncsdummy.
It's been a while since I've coded so can't give you a step by step.
If the options you want are available in SSS then use that as it's radio buttons vs text.

Why not just replace the faulty blub... :?

Well you'll fail an MOT for either :p

Mot's ain't my worry, friendly mot garage will turn a blind eye to trivial stuff.

There is a sidemarker_us option, or something similar.
Failing that you could keep the side light bulb check but disable the check control i.e. the warning lamp.

I've tried it with an aftermarket wifi OBD reader and it dose not work. Looks like you have to buy there one. Not sure what makes it any different.

Ah nice one, just need someone to turn it on for me now then

If you have an obd cable and ncs expert then you should be able to do it. The option should be pretty obvious when you download the trace. I've not tried the us option so it might not work on it's own but is worth a try.
