Numbers countdown on LCD display

Hi, every now and again the digits under the mileage reading counts down from 500 to 0. It counts down in increments of 50s until it gets to 100 the goes down in 10s until 0 then will go back to the clock or trip computer which ever was shown before it happened. Then it will do it again and again until I turn the engine off. This happens when the clock or the trip computer is showing. I don't press anything for this to happen it does it by itself for no apparent reason. It doesn't happen all the time. It hasn't done it for months now but just been for a blast and it just started doing it. There are no waring lights or service lights on the dash so I can't understand it. Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know why this is happening. Great forum by the way!!!

This is the distance countdown in metres to make a turn when your satnav is trying to guide you somewhere.

Hi it had a new battery around 4 month ago. Now that sat nav thing makes sense as I was using it today. I will go out and try it later.

It's the sat nav as said. It's counting down to the next turn so you can see when it's coming up. Mystery solved.

Came with the facelift option only I think as my 2004 did not do that, but my 2007 did.

Mine is a 3.0 2004 , 54 reg but I have installed a 2015,disk in the sat nav drive. Would this make it count down like the facelift model maybe?

I thought it might be a coding thing as it didn't work on the one I retrofitted. Was your 2004 retrofit or did you only experiment on other peoples cars?

I started life in the Z world as a semi flimper, so my 2004 was the second retrofit I did (practise on other cars first of course ....)
