Number plates... Gone!!

I can't believe it - came back from walking our dog this morning and noticed that the number plates have been removed from my car!!

Phoned the police and they said it's a common thing - people will put them onto their own car, fill up with petrol and then bin them.

Still bloody annoying though!

Rant over.

Yip, as sam says expect some fines in the post sometime soon! You did the right thing informing the police they were gone, so you have a record of it if you get trouble with a cloned car.

Bastards... Hope they were stuck down and they did no damage.

Such a pain in the arse

One advantage of private plates. Tend not to get stolen or cloned as people are looking for bland anonymous combinations.

It was a private plate :-(

Just ordered replacement from demon plates but its more annoying than anything else.

At least they were stuck on so there was no damage. I'm going to screw the next ones in though!!

Bang goes that idea then assuming you mean a less than 7 digit plate.

Pain in the ar5e or what? My son had his stolen recently. I've taken now to fitting them with stainless cross head screws then running an HSS drill in to the cross to stop it ever being removed :x

I know that's a pain if I need to ever remove it but given that it's a rare event and I've got the time, I just want to stop those theiving beggars in their tracks if I can :x

You can get tri-wing screws. They're like a three way Philips arrangement and rare so less likely the thieving gits have a screwdriver

Un paid fines, been there.

Right.......each to their own but I'd probably be more annoyed with the twunt who's had off my plates than the hardworking bailiff who's doing his job?

You'd have to leave the fine a good old while before reporting the situation to the police for a bailiff to be on your door?

My mums were stolen in broad daylight right outside our house straight after I'd washed the car. I was absolutely stunned to say the least!

With all the bloody technology that various gov't agencies have invested in, you'd think they'd be able to pick up on the same plate appearing in two places at once, or at a distance apart within an unfeasibly short timeframe such that one must be a clone and put an alert on them. Feed that into fuel stations, car parks etc that use ANPR so they flag them as they come in.

Your tax pounds at work for you *sigh*
