Number plate / No Number plate?

Looks much better on the bumper than it does on the dash. I don't really understand the appeal of going plateless, it's the norm to have a plate after all.

It reminds me a little of the people who think it looks good to have a black/silver old style plate on a new car.

There is no law about the material, only that the backing is reflective as then the size and spacing etc

Think I'll put the plate on, but get pressed metal plates to make it smarter. I assume metal plates can be attached with the double sided tape same as regular plates? Does the number plate holder from the regular bumper fit the M bumper, just take off the old and put on the new bumper?

i dont think stick on plate are legal. but it may be more the positioning of them im thinking of.

i used to get away with saying the plate had fallen off on the westy as the mounting point was so low and silly hanging off the nose cone you did knock it off on speedbumps. it used to live behind the seat after i had a little excursion into a hedge. if they cared i wouldnt have thought that excuse was particlaly valid on these cars esp as they have that plate holder thing.

This idea is what I've been thinking recently. We have some small powerful magnets at work. Plan is on sinking into the front bumper flush to paint over, and then sink into the plate from behind so just proud.

Seeing that has made me realise it's perfectly possible so I will investigate further.

Only real issue is apparently they are making non display of license plate a more serious offence of Perverting the course of Justice. :cry:

how are you putting yours back on, and will they be staying on?
 
Perverting course of justice needs to prove that you have broken a law first. That is where there their problem will be with proving that.


Bit like having a *cough* garage opener or so.

I stuck them on with double sided tape in september... Had to use a heatgun to bend the plate first..... No problems with it staying on... And yep... Will stay on now.

Just finished the m bumper install, currently got no number plate as the old one looks knackered, so on way to halfords for a new plate. 1mile in and get pulled by a bike cop, he gives me a 14 day producer.

So i guess front plate it is.

Think the angel eyes caught his attention :twisted:

That looks so good - ashamed to spoil it with a numberplate. Why do they have to be so pedantic about a front plate, they don't use them in other countries or have a tiny one like in Italy.
 
My father found a way around this problem on his Vette. A plate fastened on below the bumper by brackets that fold up out of sight.

One of my many planned mods that has yet to materialise :sad:

I just bought metal pressed plates from Ireland and they bend very nicely to the shape on the front and as they are "show plates" don't need an additional crappy writing on them, Craig's plates is where I ordered them from :)
 
its not the number plate itself that looks crap it the plastic board its mounted to thats an eyesore,take that off and try and get the adhesive type number plates that were on the bonnet of minis etc,as long as they are road legal that could be the answer.
