Number Plate Changes from 28th September

I have to say this passed me by when it was first announced, so just in case you missed it also:

I guess the take-away from this is that if you are taking delivery of a car in September, and you travel to the continent regularly, you may want to ask your dealer to fit UK marked plates, rather than GB.
 
Well given the way things are moving along with all the shenanigans between the UK and Europe, I advocate a little mid-20th Century trick.
Black and white 'invasion stripes' on the wings. :D

Have I read this correctly UK plates not GB ?

If Ms Sturgeon gets her way and Scotland leaves the Union - Then what do they want us to display?
We surely then can't be called the united kingdom?
