Number of registered keepers

I bought my car with I think off the top of my head, 7 or 8 previous.

Didn't put me off and as cj10jeeper said these type of cars may only be kept for a year or so then sold on.

I will prob sell mine in a year or so if I get the urge to get something else.

Look at the new post about Rowan Atkinson selling his F1.
Only 1 owner, 41,000 miles.
Crashed twice.
1 owner isnt neccessarily a good thing if the 1 owner has abused it.

As a rule second cars like the Z4 can have more owners with less detriment, as people do tend to buy and sell them, however mainstream and newer cars it can decimate the value due to worries about it being a lemon, why sold, etc.

I purchased a 1 owner Jag XF at 12 months old and later found out it had 4 previous owners and I was the 5th !!!
After some argument the dealer who had lied, took it back. I had been advised that the value was at least £10k lower than a one owner car with me the second (which I now have)

On a simlar theme, soft tops in general tend to have had more previous owners because buyers get sucked in by the romanticism of them - i.e driving into the sunset on a warm summer's evening, top down with a fit companion on the passenger seat. When they realise the truth of it - in the UK at least - they quickly fall out of love with the dream and sell it on. It was a similar story during my years with MX5s

They also get bought as a nice little run around for the " trophy wife" in more affluent areas and soon get exchanged when wifey gets bored with it.

My car has had 5 previous owners to me, and it only has just over 20k miles on it. It was a dealer demo for the first two years of it's life and from then on must have spent most of it's life somewhere or other locked away in a garage - it looks like it's just driven out of the showroom as a new car. There's literally not a mark on it. I think as long as you get a good service record and can trace most of the history back - as I could via paperwork and receipts received with the car, then the number of owners is purely academic.

What all of you said. Esp Mafoo and Bluestreak.
Giggled at PVR's moral rights assertion...
I put a thread up a coupe of months back - you can have quite a lot of owners for a quite innocuous reason.
Condition is king.

I got my current Z at under 2 years old.. and it had 3 owners! Dealer, private, private...... i was a little concerned at first... like why would 2 people buy it for under a year.. was it a dud etc...

However i have now owned it for 5 years.. which has averaged out somewhat.. at 4 owners in 7 years!

I'd be more concerned about how many previous owners my girlfriends had.... :o :o :o

Doesn't bother me at all. I had a 350z with 9 owners and 90k on the clock. Looked like it had just come out of the showroom. Every previous had kept a really good service record for it and it had clearly been wrapped in cotton wool all its life.

Ok, so I picked her up this morning, Got all the records, everything seems fine, car looks and feels like it just rolled out the showroom ( hope I haven't jinxed myself by saying that !) pics....
