Won't affect reception unless you want AM or are in a real poor FM area.

Exactly - the main FM antenna is in the rear bumper (IIRC) and the whip (or nipple in this case) is only used when reception is poor. Besides, I would be more concerned about losing the live traffic updates on the sat nav than inane radio chatter.
