Now Nanu’s new car

Great looking car, definitely worth the 10 hour round trip!
Did you get to the bottom of the short ownership?

Congratulations [ref]Nanu[/ref], Cognac and frozen grey is lovely a combination, especially with the cerium grey accents. I did think about it for the new one, but felt with the gloss black trim, black wheels and black sapphire would look ace.
Very happy with the choice. It’s already been admired by the neighbours. I would have also liked the Frozen green with Cognac interior but it only comes in manual which is not for me.

The M40i is scary fast and it took a few miles to get used to a different feel.

Re yours, the “ all black” Will look dramatic and certainly make a statement. What interior did you go for?

Cognac like yours, excepting the door cards and double cubby doors are black

They said the silver one they had in the previous November was a different car. Queried the previous history without telling them i knew anything and was told exactly the same from the manager that it was a refusal of finance. The salesman mentioned that the first owner wears refused to finance to pay the bubble payment. Never asked any more I was happy with the car.

The first MOT was done by the previous owner and had advisories re tyre wear. The garage replaced the tyres and had it re tested which sounds a bit pointless but I am happy

PS. Isn’t the wheel on the wrong side for Yorkshire?🤔

Travelled down to High Wickham
It's Wycombe....High Wycombe. My home town; born and bred. Wickham is in Hampshire.
It's named after the river running through it....the river Wye.....and a combe is an old name for a shallow valley. The High comes form the surrounding Chiltern hills on three sides.
Bit of trivia.....Shytner took the Wycombe dealership over from 'Hughenden BMW' in the mid 90s. The site they occupy today on the A40 in Loudwater used to be a G-Plan furniture factory until the 1980s. Then the furniture trade died in the UK and manufacturing moved to the far east. High Wycombe was the pre-eminent town for quality furniture from the 17th century until the mid 20th, mainly because the area is surrounded by Beech tree woods. Beech was the preferred timber for furniture as it is very malleable, hard-wearing and inherently anti-bacterial so resisting pest infestation. There were many household names in furniture based in High Wycombe until relatively recently. G-Plan invented the 'wheelback' chair which is synonymous with the town. There is a furniture museum still which is well worth a visit if in the area.

BTW the above sounded like an AI post but it was all me! :D

Anyway, well done Nanu. I just hope you don't scratch that matt paintwork.

I went to the chair museum on a school trip as a very young child, so I know all about bodgers, benchmen and framers. The industry has died now, but strangely a large number of bodgers remain :D

Sytner has my traded in car YF20ULW up for sale already for £27,500.

If anyone interested just PM me for details

As you are probably one of the few to have gone from 2.0l to the M40i, how different is the handling with the added weight? And how different is it to the 35iS?

Full review please :D

I won’t deny that I was thinking that too, I was just too polite to say!
The advantage I have with my bodges is that they heal…

Not a full review as not that technically minded. The E89 35is was a different car entirely. Not quite as quick on the acceleration but just as smooth to drive. More of a GT car than an out and out sports. More relaxed and arguably more cool?

The M30i is a nice compromise between the 20 & the 40. A little more sporty feel than the 20 which I have only test driven and found it way under powered following on from the 35is, but is a bit more economical to run. To be honest if the one I have just bought was the M30i instead, I would have still went for it.

The M40i is a different beast altogether. Yes its heavier but there is more than enough grunt under the bonnet that you just don't notice it in the handling. It does have a different feel when driving to the 30 and not 100% sure why that is, but think it's more the acceleration and the horses under the bonnet than anything else. Its so easy to be cruising at 70 and before you realise its 90 and nothing feels any different. (Or so I am told of course)

Still very much getting used to her, especially all the toys. Didn't think I would like the HUD but already wouldn't be without it. Haven't had the bottle to try the self parking yet. Perhaps on a Sunday on a business park when nobody is watching first.

Latest Pics now nice and clean. Can’t afford anywhere exotic now so just the drive 8)
