Now I'm Worried!

Went to the stealers last week to have a few bits done to my red 3,0 coupe and found a stunning black 35i. Couldn't resist a drive , then current stop the credit card finding its way to the machine...

Get back on here, flick over from old E86 to E 89 - ahhh.

Broken 296 wheels, cars being rejected , leaking roofs, DCT issues- what have I done .

The Coupe was faultless, fun and looks gorgeous .

So come on people, give me some positives to look forward to my new purchase:

Sapphire black, beige leather, DCT, 296 wheels, phone prep, high gloss wood trim. Fantastic sounding engine, but new to DCT, so hope that goes Ok.

Pictures next weekend when I pick it up.

I think only the 19" wheels is the common problem. Others are not. DCT should be very reliable.

You have made the right choice

Get the alloys checked before taking delivery otherwise E89s suffer little problems, there has been a couple with leaky roofs but in the minority.

Enjoy the ride :)

Tim.

Don't worry, sounds like a great machine  Beige interior and high gloss wood trim, I take it it has the design pure white interior with the leather dash?

Oh you will have lots of fun

Congrats on the purchase,i am not the least bit jealous(ok i am  )

Hey buy mine next year, will be quite cheap :D

Never any issues with the DCT, wheels perhaps a problem, but I would ask the dealer to change them round for the new style, if they haven't got them on it already. As far as I know the roofs don't leak, maybe some have had issues with the window seals. But remember of the 1000 s sold, this forum is going to heighten responses on problems, very few people come on here to say wow, no problems woo hoo!!!

Good point, I guess people are more vocal when things go wrong

Let's have some balance and have some positives posted

I love the interior of the new car, way above the E86, and it may be a bit softer riding, but with today's roads it probably makes it faster down most roads

I've said this before many times.
These cars are fantastic and in general very few problems. The people who have problems speak up for advice or to rant and their exception isn't the rule.

I've not had one thing wrong with mine, apart from what's been created by the dealer.

You'll love it and won't regret it :D

Any of my problems have been created by the dealer as they pretty much sold me a second hand car as a new one.
The car is ok but I think my bm days r coming to an end, if I had a choice I would never have changed my e86.

The e86 was just a better sports car and fun
E89 more classy but not as fun to drive

Good luck

My car is being replaced due to a leak, but I really think mine is a one off issue, cos no one else has it like mine. Forums are where people tend to rant if they have a problem, and although it may seem there are lots of people with problems, the fact is that only a tiny tiny percentage of owners are on the forum. Also, if you have a problem, then you might go to a forum to see if others have it, but remember we are talking about a small percentage of owners.

Take my leak....to me it was the end of the world, cos my example of the car was faulty. Had it been a "common" fault, then there would be others on here experiencing it. The forums are a good source of info, but also can be counter productive.

I'm getting a replacement and although will be worried the new one will leak, I doubt it will due to others experiences.

There is no reason why your car shouldn't be fine.

38K miles, with problem alloys and a faulty air intake to the turbocharger, and rattle baffles in the exhaust. All sorted and fixed, and I dont think I have had any major issues with my car. Am I going to buy another when the revised model is out next year? Yup!!

Driven approx. 400 miles on three different trips this weekend and loved every minute of the 35i.

Already posted before, but here are some recommendations :

- Get the wheels checked, ask to physical see the wheels off the car and the inside rims, also ask them to check if the wheels meet their circumference tolerance requirements, as some people have had cracked wheels rejected over this
- Ask to see the warranty history of the car
- Don't take the BMW gap insurance, much cheaper options elsewhere
- Don't have the car detailed or Supagarded by the dealer as they will screw up your paint work
- Check the SatNav FW and map versions, try and get a free update to the 2012 maps if they are not already loaded, they are expensive to update
- Confirm when the next service and brakes are due

Enjoy the car and post some pics.

Remember that the Engine oil and Brake fluid change is time based and not condition!

I nearly got caught with a £350 expense soon after purchase.
