Now I'm a Lifer....

Just noticed I clocked up my 3000th post, making me a Lifer on this forum. I can't believe I've managed to post so much shite, but if I've managed to help anyone, at any time, I'll consider it worth it  .
I'm actively looking to change the Zed for something else, but honestly am struggling to find anything even close with the trade-in plus up to $20k. It puts me in the territory of an early Cayman (but I'm a bit leery about the early model problems), or an MX-5 RF. F-Type Jag is just a stretch too far, so I'm kind of running out of options. Have looked at Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ but they don't really 'wow' me either.
Open to suggestions, but bear in mind Euros are a lot more expensive here :(

Congratulations, took you long enough :poke: :D

For what you’ve got already changing it to something better is going to be difficult, M4?

Nice one Shane. Get an Mx5. Then next time I'm visiting NZ, we can meet up and talk about them. :driving:

The RF is certainly the best option so far - late model, all the mod cons, 3 pedals and a gearbox, apparently great to drive according to every review since 1999, and I like the folding 'targa' roof as well. I'm a bit worried I'll miss the 35i's lovely power, but won't know unless I drive one.

Well done for sticking with it - I'd suggest doing the same with your car.
Thank you. I do love the Z4, but am just getting tired of the cost of keeping it running. Had to smile today when I saw a post on another forum that said "If you can't afford a new European car, you can't afford a used one" - I'm kind of understanding that a lot better now

Better hope the next owner of yours hasn't read that then. :D

For all I know I've spent all the money and it will run perfectly for the foreseeable future. But that's the thing, it just seems like a constant gamble as to what's going next. Everyone keeps asking me if I've replaced the injectors as they're a 'when, not if' item on the list...

Congratulations, you have easily beaten me to that milestone. How ops get to the 10k plus figure beats me,probably some incurable addiction.

Working from home speeds it up.
Get bored, swap screens and reply to stuff to relieve the boredom, then get dragged into other discussions.
Just like I did here! :D

Congrats, always worth sticking around, best site and peeps compared to others.

Talking of MX5s and the RF, would you swap a M140i for one :? Have to be honest I'm missing a bit of open top motoring, must be the summer blues.

Tim.

I blame Pop Quiz the Revenge. :sos: :dizzy: :sos: :dizzy: :sos: :dizzy: :sos: :yeah: :ROFL2: :ilz4f:

Congratulations enzed.

It sounds like you may end up keeping your 35i partly due to a lack of options. Z4s seem to be pretty sensibly priced for what you get. Anyway if yours stays I hope it behaves!

I'm the same as buzy - Pop Quiz and Newbies Section are my affliction.

Congratulations, next step is a leg end.
Now you can visit the lifers lounge, food, drink and..

Ah, so there is some reward for excessive verbosity...

Congrats on the milestone.

I think I would stick with the zed until you can find an F Type in budget
This would be ideal, but by the time prices come down to be more affordable, the examples will have much higher mileage, (usually) meaning more chance of expensive maintenance work due. That could be overly pessimistic on my part, but I'm getting too old and cranky to be crawling around under cars (with the exception of an oil/filter change - that's usually do-able by the owner on most cars).

That is the issue - I think I would still stick and wait for an F-Type, not certain an MX5 would cut it for me, most go form MX5 to Z4

I actually popped into the Mazda dealer today and got 'schooled' on the models, apparently I need to hold out for a 2019 or newer as they have a more powerful engine (181HP up from 155) and other features like Android auto/Apple carplay, reverse camera etc...but are near impossible to find at the moment, so I'll just have to be patient and see what comes up.
