Hi Guys

After fixing my airbag light problem I noticed the other day that I have a little condensation in my nearside headlight.

I understand this is a known issue with the e85 and can be temporarily fixed with hair dryers and silica gel Crystal's but I wondered if anyone had discovered why it happens, is it just a badly designed headlight fitting? Someone told me the problem occurs after replacing a bulb, this i did over a year ago so i dont know why it's just happened. I saw on realoem that there is a ventilation grommet in the headlight fitting does this get blocked?

Has anyone successfully sorted this problem without buying new headlights I've got my MOT coming up in August and I think it's a fail with condensation in the headlights.

Any help gratefully taken.

Hi, the removable cover at the rear of the light has a rubber seal, that’s normally the issue. Try some Vaseline on the seal after drying the light out or replace the seal

Silicone grease round the rubber seal of the cover, fixed it for me, dried it out with a hair dryer before reassembling. The rubber seal just deteriorates over time.

Thanks guys, I will try drying out and getting a new rear headlight cover and seal and use some silicone grease.

Mine does this occasionally. I never did anything with it and it goes after a few days and doesn’t come back for months if not years.

Another trick to try is removing the seal and flipping it through 180 degrees, then putting it back in so the side that's not indented makes a fresh seal with the headlight.

Seeing as its just started to happen you've not jet washed the car recently have you? Depending on how powerful the jet wash is and how intensely you sprayed around the headlight this can push water past the seal.
