not the dreaded DSC/Brake light !

Took car out yesterday and those blasted lights came on and stayed on  Did it once before months ago but went off as soon as I restarted engine . Have checked all tyres pressures - slightly down at 30 psi all round so adjusted to 33/36 - turned wheel each way as suggested but the buggers are still on. Thought of cleaning wheel sensors but don't feel confident enough to do this plus the fact that the underneath appears never to have seen any rain/mud etc .

Got it booked in to a Indy down here tomorrow for diagnosis - a lot cheaper than Stealers . Car is performing absolutely normally so beginning to wonder if it just needs resetting - is there a way of doing this without resorting to computers ?

Is it just the two warning lights or do you have three? See if you can get the fault code(s).

I just had my ABS/DSC unit repaired after the three lights came on and could no longer be cleared. Quite easy to remove/replace the unit. Total cost £250.

just the 2 lights - handbrake and the dsc ( triangle thingee ) both yellow - car's only done 28k :o

Hopefully you get it sorted, I had mine covered on good will with me paying some of the bill.
The part itself is £1700 according to the receipt.

I have this too, bought a code reader and checked fault codes, it was the pressure sensors so getting those replaced.

Assuming this was 3 lights, I.e. the 2 mentioned above plus the ABS light? Seen plenty of people recommending the whole unit needs replacing when it's just the sensors. That tends to be the difference between 2 and 3 lights on I believe.

I had this a few years ago on the forum to Islay to be precise, booked the car into the stealer on our return they did a diagnostic and told me I needed I couple of new sensors that fix onto the master cylinder. They disconnected the existing and cleaned the connections etc, 1 week later waiting for the new parts to come and no sign of a reoccurrence I canceled the order.
To this day the lights have not come back on, might be worth checking before shelling out big money.

yes sensors - sensor no 2 to be precise - and yes bmw recommend changing both - Indy didn't inspire me with confidence but at least they managed to do the diagnosis - I'm using a trusted mechanic who specialises in performance cars to give me a quote - he used to look after my previous Lotus meticulously at half the going rate - it's all about trusting someone :D

my mechanic rang me to say he's spoken to a colleague who has confirmed it is only necessary to change the faulty one - just as well as they are £130 each - booked in for next week :D
