My brother is a maxillo and an Orthodontist and does the implants.

They are defo not 2K each. You must have gone to the most expensive dentist in the UK especially if he has no training.

The latest teeth are zirconoum instead of ceramic IIRC and are super durable but with a layer of transparency making them like real teeth.

I have a molar - best investment one can make to himself.

My wife had 2 molar implants done in Leicester a couple of years ago by a surgeon.

Yep it cost about £4k but painless, great job, and no after effects.

Miss Geezah tells me that the bone grafts are actually bovine.....as in cows! I'll be keeping my T-bone after I've noshed the steak from this day on, just in case it comes in handy!

Nah, unless you are calling me a cow, I didn't need bone grafts but if I had they would have come from my own jaw.

Depends on location. Mine were upper jaw which are more difficult, in sites of previous trauma, hence the after effects.

Not had my actual teeth done yet, these were just the implants, and yup that is what I was quoted 2k each. That was Strauman implants, which I believe have the best track record and are the more expensive ones. I am having crowns done here, no idea what type they are, but I will inquire when dentist finishes off my root canal next week.

mrs smartbear had bone grafts & 4 implants last year (front teeth)
i was shocked at the bruising & she was pretty distressed!
hope yours are better soon ndb :(
regards

Anything dental is horrendous ... I am sure it is worse than child birth 8)

I have no teeth.
They were removed, all of them, last year. Apparently necessary to avoid the zombie dead bone sticking through your skin look. ( radiotherapy.) The surgeon referred to it as a 'full clearance'. Made me feel like a repoed house.

I am in a NHS queue for false teeth now.

:D watch out George Clooney.

Anyway. Good luck with yours.

NDB, who did you go with? My father needs a bridge done and has been quoted £7000! He's considering going abroad, recommendations would be ace.

Finisterre, that sounds terrible :(. Hope you are currently well apart from the no teeth side of things.
Wildfire, I can DM you details if interested, just let me know.

Thanks, I had the cancer all clear last week.

whoo hoo.

Anyway, I may get back to you for recommendations.
I don't know what standards the NHS work to. I hope high.
Else I may be remortgaging the darn house.
