In case any of you thought I was being quiet. Just been in Germany for the week and whilst there had two tooth implants done, which was a LOT more traumatic than anticipated. I spent yesterday travelling the 700 miles back home with husband driving, and me icing my face for 20 minutes once every hour. I swear people on the ferry thought he had taken his hand to me !
 
Wow, did they complete the work in one visit? How long did it take? Hope the pain goes away soon!
 
I had two upper molars done, one on each side which doesn't help with speech/eating. It took about 1 hour under local, starting off in dentist chair for initial prep and then in operating theatre. At the minute I only have the screws ( the actual implant ) which will hold the crown in place, they sew up your gums over them and they heal into place over 3 months. Back in August, to have them exposed and then my own dentist can put in the crowns.
 
I was visiting my parents anyway, and the implants are 1,500 euros for two together there, whereas they are £2,000 EACH in the UK. Plus there they are done by maxo facial surgeon, here by dentist with some extra training.
 
Well, your husband is known to like a few Stella's, so the peep's on the ferry might not have been wrong?

Left side is doing really well but right is not so good, but that was where I had major op last year and my sinsues repaired. Plus the bone was border line for the implant, so that explains it.
As for being brave, either that or a little bit stupid!

My best friend (a Berliner) had that done. I can sympathise but the results for her were excellent. Hopefully yours will be too.
 
The trip to Germany has saved you a few quid and you would have has the same discomfort in the UK !!
£1200 v £4000 - That should make you smile as soon as you're able :thumbsup:
 
Thanks everyone :), things are gradually improving, although I think my students will be a bit shocked at the state of me tomorrow and have mostly silent lessons! And good point Ronk :)
 
I wish, that was first part..... the crowns are another £1k each, and they for some weird reason are cheaper in the UK !
 
NDB, I hope your pain subsides very soon, I once had a week off work as I couldn't stand the dental pain I was experiencing at the time, the only way I could get any sleep at all was to get absolutely sh*t faced every night, so not all bad then :lol:
 
I'm beginning to think that young Miss Geezah made the right choice when she decided to become a dentist (graduates next month, bless her) At least I can get mine done on the cheap when and if the time comes........or else!
