thumbnail_IMG_0731.jpgthumbnail_IMG_0733.jpgThanks for letting an OLDIE join and be called a newbie. I purchased a 2016 Z4 35i automatic Alpine white with red ,a year ago. I wanted to connect to the BMW assist and have been told by my dealer that I have a 2G compatible computer in my car and it has to be changed to a 4G. My car was a factory program car that an executive drove for 2900 miles then a dealer in ALABAMA got it. I bought it off the internet from them. I'm in Ohio and had it shipped to my house. I replaced a 1979 Fiat that I purchased new in 1979 that had 23,000 original miles on it when I sold it. Never saw snow and rain maybe 4 or 5 times in 38 years. My wife had a 86 325i then a 2005 530I, then a 2008 X3 so I decided on the Z4 being familiar with the quality of BMW. I wanted a hard top and air not to mention that I have owned a stick of some sort for the last 55 years and for wife to be able to drive. My question is, is it worth the $800.00 to change the computer?

Welcome along - I had to look twice at your name, we have our very own CJ10Jeeper :)
Lovely E89, with stunning coral red interior if I'm not mistaken. Can't help with your question, but hopefully others can

I too had to look twice :D Hi & Welcome
Personally I don't think the BMW assist is worth it, but its very much personal choice

Welcome to the forum OP.

Have to agree it's kinda nice to join as an oldie and be a newbie - for a while at least!

Lovely looking Z4 you have there - I'm a sucker for red leather. :)

Sorry I can't help with your question - my E86 doesn't have all that hi-tech malarkey (thankfully).

Just out of interest what was your Fiat? If it was a 124 Spyder I'd love to see a photo - I thought about buying an early one in 1979, but it was a rough example and LHD isn't great in the UK. :)

MR TIDY Here is a picture of me and my 650 BSA which I owned while stationed in the HOLY LOCH Scotland in 1969 was I was a

Thanks for the photos.

I love the one with your BSA - the coolness of youth!

But your Fiat looks fantastic too - I'd love to find one in that sort of condition.
