Hi all,

I am looking at buying a Z4 Coupe and quite like all the colours and interiors that I see. I don't want to buy one that will be difficult to sell later. Which combo's to avoid for max ease of resale, thoughts?

PS. I really do like Black with red leather is this a good bet ?

Cheers

Black with red is a very good combination

Interlagos and imola red on the other hand is not.

Unless you're selling to me. I like interlagos and a red interior.

Personally I think that black on black is not the greatest, but many seem to like it. To be honest, why not buy the car you love rather than the one someone else will buy in the future ?

Everyone is different so anything will sell. Buy what you like, and don't worry about what the next owner might like.

Don't really agree with that. Think it always makes sense to buy a car with as many extras as possible and a good colour combo. Black car with black seats wont stand as strong as black with read seats. Sports seats or M seats will be better again.!!

Well if I am spending my money, I would buy what I liked, regardless of spec. If I wanted full spec I would buy it. My last Defender was a lower spec (non XS) as I wanted a more basic vehicle, but had A/C as I wanted that.

My point is that what you like is subjective. No Z really has an outrageous colour spec. PY is probably the most split colour, but there isn't many of them so not a worry! Some of the split colour leather seats are so rare that again, someone would love it and want it.

It's the same with speccing a new car and not going for the colour you really want, but the safe option or what the next buyer would want. Completely stupid!!

I wouldn't buy a car I wasn't completely happy with so that I could effectively shift it on again in 3 years or whatever.

Even BMW don't recommend Interlagos Blue with Imola Red interior. For that reason alone I would not buy unless I had a swap for black already arranged.

See I love interlagos with imola. Would be my ideal combo. But then I would also like a leguna sega blie m3 with the matching interior.

Leguna Seca is lovely, not sue about the interior though. Same with PY on an M3, love the colour but would have black interior.

As noted above, it is a personal choice and what you like will not necessarily please a future buyer but I shouldn't worry too much about that - you are buying it for you, not the next guy. That being said, I think the twin tone leather interiors just don't come off well, a solid one colour is better IMO. Black car and black leather look a bit dull IMO but otherwise, most of the colours are tasteful. I like champagne but then, I've never had to clean that kind of colour. Pleasingly, black car, red leather seems to meet the approval of most here.

As most have commented, it's all subjective, unless you're a trader, so buy what you like.
Remember these cars are already marmitey, and there isn't really such a thing as a bad combo, somebody somewhere will like it, even the Madeira walnut interior that probably received the foulest reaction on here

Buy the car that is in best condition you can get, would be the 1st buying pref, then colour combo :)

At the end of the day we buy what we like not what everyone else likes. Well i do anyway, It would be very boring if we all liked black with black or we all liked the same. Anyone fancy Estoril blue with coral red? :) :)

Thanks everyone, I think I am clear and happier now with colour options

I have decided now and will be looking for a Grey or Black MC with Imola red leather, it is such as gorgeous rich and deep looking leather colour, that it is hard to want anything else once you see it in the flesh  Even the name "Imola red" sounds great ! 8)

Your views are much appreciated, thanks for the help.

I wouldnt worry too much there are very few bad combo cars out there. I would say sepang, caramel and amarone interiors need to have the right contract exterior but most others work fine.

Dont forget the trim finish also makes a difference ie silver car with light colour interior and aluminium finish may appeal to some and may not to others?
