Well after owning the car over 7 years and never once cleaning out the drain plugs, I was constantly waiting for the roof to pack in.

Well today I decided to take a look at the motor whilst the roof was off.

To my surprise

I was expecting it to fall apart when I opened the plastic box up.

That's mental usually they're bright orange and soaking wet 8)

Always wonder how mine is, as it was replaced by the previous owner. Never had any issues with the motor, so I can only assume it's fine in the oem place?

appear so, the plastic compartment was extremely well sealed.

Mine was exactly the same. I took my car to Bowser last month for preventative works. When he had the motor out it looked brand new.

My one was extracted by Bowser a few years ago now. Luckily its behind a cover in the boot, as its pretty manky :wink:

Mine was the same. The plastic case was actually dusty!

Mine looked similarly pristine when Number5 relocated it to the boot. However, I knew it was a replacement as I have a copy of a very hefty bill paid to BMW by a previous owner. Glad I didn’t have pay that one!

Where are the drain plugs and how should I clean them out?

With the help of another post, I was able to reach underneath my 2003 z4 and pull the drain plugs out my hand. It took all of 30 seconds per side. It was dry and without debris

How do you know the tube wasn't blocked above the drain plugs and the motor's not sitting in a pool of water? :?

Mines non to shabby either,had it moved tother week,not as shiney as yours tho.
