Not loving the Vreds :(

I was expecting big things from the Sessantas but I'm finding them hard to get used to.

When cornering at speed they feel for want of a better description, a bit bouncy, not very planted at all, and they're not giving me any confidence :( I've tried changing the pressures but no luck so far. The old Contis felt more planted and predictable to me, I don't drive as fast as others on here and never pushed them to the limit of grip.

Anybody else take a while to get the Vreds right or have similar experiences? Any tips on what to do?

Could it be a spring issue even?

Have heard they are quite spec specific, I have nav and lots of other toys, not found them a problem. Not as good as mich ps2's but not as expensive either. For the money I like them.

Tired springs? Loose bushes? They transformed my TT, loved them.

My first set took five hundred miles to really scrub in, so when I replaced the rears I gave them somewhat harsher treatment and they're great now  Of course mine are 19"s not 18"s so maybe that could make a difference.

I still have your old tyres in my garage if you want to swap them for your Vreds :P Say now though, as I have a track day in a couple of weeks

Ye I changed from mich ps2 to vred very impressed so far! Love them. Sorry for your experience but they get better once they have run in

Agree with several of the posts above.

Give them at least 5-600 miles to bed in.
I had traction light flickerage at 90mph on a slight bend on my new rears.
Thought I'd made a terrible mistake choosing them or had a flat, but now 800+ miles later they're way better than the Contis (Kumho Ecsta).

Another stick with it reply!

However if you really don't like them, put them on the for sale section. They'll be gone whithin the hour! :D

Cheers for the offer, but I'm determined to get these Vreds right :) Did you find them sensitive to pressures and what did you run them at?

Mark, how many miles have you covered in the Vreds?

1200 miles. The odd thing is that they felt fine at the beginning and seem to have got worse :?

Mental note - make sure flimper is not driving behind me on the Sussex run in case he can not stop :poke:

I've found inflating them excessively makes the car a bit jittery and the handling deteriorates, whilst under inflation makes the car slightly wallowy - no surprises there really! Around 30-32 psi seems about right, but mine are lower profile, so you may find that not best for yours. If it's a bit bouncy at the current pressures, reduce them a little and try again.

As said they take time to settle in, rear of mine felt floaty at the start and the end in the middle they were good. They don't ride well and are noisy though, gets worse with wear.

The main sensation is light steering from the front end, rear seems ok.

They just need to scrub in?
Does it almost feel as if you're driving on ice a little bit at the front?

I've found that before with new tyres on other cars, and it usually settles fairly quickly. It might be worth a try running them at slightly lower PSI.
