Is there real need to have the front lower by 10mm? i was trying not to go lower because of the bad roads we have here. The original height form centre wheel to fender was 365mm so i'm basically already about 5-7mm lower than stock. Even at stock height i hit the fangs a few times in the past.

thanks

Kerstien

My Z4MC, when it was OEM, had the front height 10mm lower than the rear, that's what I mean. However, I've lowered my front end by a further 10mm, but that's just my desire to increase the rake for aerodynamic reasons at higher speeds at The Ring.

Thanks for that. Ill see how I get on this week with my current height and take it from there.

Mini update. I'm really happy I took the plunge with upgrading the suspension. The car is completely transformed and handles so much better. As described many times by John the ride is also more comfortable.
All that jumping around on bumps has gone and I can now drive much faster as I feel much more confident. Before high speed quick changes in direction were very scary. Now it's so different since the front has been stiffened up- no more body roll and diving around :D
Since the back is set softer than stock I also have a lot let wheel spin. Before the car kept loosing traction in 3rd on most of our roads. Now rear suspension takes all the imperfections and just grips. :D

I'm hearing a few clicking noises at the moment but not too sure what it is. I will continue trying more settings and see if it persists.

I took the plunge after reading john's (Exdos) constant reminder of how the car can be made better by a proper suspension upgrade. So big thanks John

Good thread. Hope to upgrade my suspension from spring onwards. John is great and a real asset to these forums.

Took off the M Wheels and fitted winter 156 16' with 205/55 Goodyear Ultragrip 7+ tyres, its a completely different ride? (Not run flats) :driving:

I still have a c,icing noise that I can't figure out. Everything is tightened properly. Anyone have any idea? Seems to be the right side front wheel. I don't think it's rubbing anywhere. Seems more like as if the spring is making a noise on the shock :tumbleweed:

Thanks

My first suspect would be the drop links are not properly located. The flat part of the bolt which passes through the hole in the damper (the part which you hold with a spanner when you tighten the nut) should be positioned so that the flat sides are vertical. The second suspect would be: if you've reused the 3 bolts that fix the wheel bearing to the damper you should use some threadlok because when new they're all self-locking (as are many bolts used by BMW) and make sure that they're torqued up tight!

I seems to be considered that the OEM set up is too firm,,,is this due to dampers or spring rates do we know...??,,,

I'll have a look John. I hope it's something as simple as that. Really enjoying the handling but this noise its really annoying me...just hope my kws aren't defective
