You are so mean to your fellow Coupe owners Taz... though I still have a soft spot for my old D reg 16v GTi, one of the most fun cars I ever owned

I Had two of these, both 8 valves, in the early to mid 1990's. Served me well during my years at Uni and in my opinion the mk2 Gti is the best VW produced. Having said that, given the choice I would take the Zed over the Golf every time

Thats sweet, my buddy is a golf nut, He has a stunning mk1 golf gti , unmarked bodywork in black, same alloys and I love looking at it when he wheels it out of the garage... he has also dropped a TT engine in it! :o

Very nice! I had planned putting a BAM 225bhp TT engine in this, but I decided I wanted to keep it original :)

To he honest it's not bad at all, the splitter at the front is just made of plastic and is very flexible and the underneath of the car is no lower than some of the z4's on here :)

Stunning greenson, looks really tidy, makes me miss my 16v all the more :( I'll finish it one day!

I had mine wound down a similar amount to yours for a while but whilst it looked amazing (and wasn't anything like as low as some go) it was bloody awful to drive, i actually found I drove like a grandma most of the time as I couldn't bear the feeling i was destroying the car. Saying that, I'm running weitec adjustables and they are fkkin terrible for comfort even at near standard height  what coil overs are you using?

As for the banger comments  , these old mk2's could teach these flashy Z's a thing or two about steering feel , especially you non M types  in fact, I actually enjoy driving mine just as much as the Z and if my golf wasn't in a million pieces, I'd genuinely have a hard time deciding between which to take on a thrash!

Anyway, I think more pics are required

Stunning MK2. Love the fact you have proper light clusters and indicators...

This was my mk2 track car, basically ran a totally respelled mk3 running gear (wide track, hydro clutch conversion, VR6 brakes, 2.0 ABF running 170bhp)

Now that is a lovely car.

I test drove an 8v mk2 small bumper version when I was buying my first proper car. It was between that and a 205 GTi and I ended up going for the 205. No regrets as it's still my favourite car owned.

I followed that with a mk3 16v Golf which I have to say was pretty dull after the 205. I do however still have an itch for a MK2 or a cabriolet as a weekender, I've actually just started looking the last couple of weeks although I'm also a little tempted by a VR6. The memory of my mk3 does put me off that idea a little.
