Not another roof problem

Advice on this one much appreciated.

Roof went down as normal but on my return home the roof wouldn't come back up, the motor was spinning, although seemd a bit slow but no roof movement at all.

I released the hydraulic catch and put the roof up manually.

I then refitted the hydaulic catch and tried the roof to see if it would go down, the roof catches unlock but no roof movement and no sound from the motor hydraulics. Pressing the return button the catches locked again.

Is this just the usual drowned and dead motor or something else?

Yes it is mate, you need to join the relocate squad. There are plenty members who can do this for you.

Cheers, tug

It sounds to me as though at first you've pulled the red hoop which presses in the bypass valve and then even though you've released the hoop, the valve has stuck in, so you're not building any pressure. If now no sound then maybe the roof motor has also stopped now.

The motor needs to come out, have a little TLC and ideally be relocated.

Your options are:-
-Myself ( Bristol)
-Bowser134 (Hants)
-Durham Dave (Cumbria)
or DLV ( Wirral, if you're comfortable).
Also if they are still doing them:-
-Dietcokeman (Bucks)
-Tug (Loughborough)

Many thanks for the feedback. As there is no one near me except for the zed shed, who is now charging £175 to relocate, I have decided to do it myself. The motor is well and truly corroded and had seized, it currently resides in a bucket of diesel, so hopefully it will be rescued. If not I'm going to fit a Mustang motor.
