Not a new member but new car!

Backstory: my E85 has a suspected blown head gasket so I needed a new car as work is 60 miles away. Due to the cost of fixing that I decided it was time for a new car. I had planned to get something cheap and cheerful, maybe even a little sensible, but then I saw this 2009 sdrive 30i and just had to have it.

So far loving the E89! To me steering is a big improvement and I appreciate the more GT feel. I also never thought I'd say this as a big manual fan but I'm actually really enjoying the auto box too. It's only the standard 6 speed but even that seems to shift quick enough to me. Definitely quicker than I could anyway!

This does mean there's an E85 3.0 available if anyone wants a project car! I'm also going to be selling a few bits and bobs from it

Thanks the link. I'll do some research about this.

That's the problem with this forum you end up needing things you never knew you needed

Car looks lovely! That's the problem here - a year ago I was just happy to get a Z4, now I'm convinced I need to spend thousands improving it

Congratulations on getting your new car, and on finding a 30i as they seem to be quite rare.

Thank you all for your kind comments :)

Congratulations, those wheels and the silver paintwork are a great combination.

I absolutely love those wheels and they're in great condition too. I'm aware they having issues with cracking though right? I'm planning to scrap the run flats asap to help a bit. Does anyone know if I can go up in profile at all too?

Generally I prefer more colorful paint but something about this one really looks great. Seems I was just at the right place at the right time.

I think your alloys are type 296’s whereas mine are type 326 although equally prone to cracking. When switching to non runflats I increased the rear profiles from 255/30/19 to 255/35/19 but that’s on an MSport car whereas yours looks like a SE spec car. Some E89 owners opt for a wider 265/30/19 rear which increases the profile slightly. Hopefully somebody running 19 inch wheels on a SE spec car can provide better advice.

I posted in the E89 Issues (https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=133799). I'm getting the A68B microswitch issue and bought the new part to replace but don't have the ability. So, now that the trunk is locked shut and the top won't latch in place my windows are locked in the down position.

Can't figure out how to open the trunk to maybe try and tighten the hydraulic screws to see if that will for some reason help the top relatch in place so I can put my windows up and get it to a mechanic to fix.
