For that rare breed that does actually buy rather than lease those looking to sell are very often clueless as to their cars current market value :? so what do they do ? They get offered silly money for a trade in by the dealer or they take a look online , they don't always analyse the reason for the low prices , they see what looks like their car for £10/£11/£12k & stick their's up in the a similar ballpark :wink:

Can't imagine the numbers needed to make a difference are clueless to their cars value, definitely some, yes, but surely not the majority. You're always going to get a few really cheap examples with any car, I doubt these have much bearing on values. Just my tuppence mind.

Anyways, as bing said people not really knowing what's under the bonnet has stemmed from BMW using the numbers over the years to represent the engine size but they are not the only ones at that game with Merc also in a similar path.

I'm sure most manufactures will come up with some great engine numbers on the exterior with totally contradicting numbers on the engines over the coming years.

Unfortunately people are obsessed with fuel economy and VED rates, saving them money............................…………………………but that's just so they can buy the real McCoy
