That is frustrating  my mrs has a carbon copy to yours on the TT after a wagon flicked a stone up & did the same damage.

Bad luck mate. I was expecting to see your new alloys kerbed up or something when I read the title.

My windscreen is the original so 10 years old now, got a few chips in and could do with replacing. Can you post how much your new screen costs when you get it to give me an idea

Cheers

Dan

Unlucky mate, same happened to me on an a-road, I showed you at the meet.

Make sure when they fit it that the rubber seal is correctly fitted!

Trust me when i say that i beyond careful with my 313s :!: doesnt your insurance policy cover windscreen damage, my excess is £75 so £75 is what it will cost me. Get a new windscreen as you wont believe how bigger a difference it looks

I'm not sure. I'm with Privilege so will check. I thought insurance would only replace a cracked windscreen, and repair chips. Didn't think it was worth the hassle for repairing chips as the rest of the screen is grubby/stone chipped

Bummer, but it happens - I got a new screen last year and it has two large chips (that I can't see from the drivers seat) picked up on forum hoons

Good news though - to help you feel better I went and found a Happy Jonny :D

Johnny,

Make sure you tell them
1. If you have auto wipers, Autoglass ordered a brand new sensor for me rather than use the old one

2. Remember to tell them it has a tint, not top tint but whole screen tint - think colours are blue or green

3. They got my forum sticker off & reattached it

Happy days

I will, i mentioned it when i nbooked my windscreen in and will mention it again when the guy comes to do it and will sound like this " can you please ensure that the seals and done correctly and neat and tidy like some ive seen have been shocking, and dont tell me its fine and would "settle" as thats bullshit, do it right or i wont be paying the £75" :)

This is an issue I know about extremely well! My old TT needed a windscreen replacement, done by autoglass through my insurer. They came out to change the window with "pattern part" glass, not branded Audi glass. People will try and tell you that there is no difference, well I can assure you there is. The fitted windscreen looked like complete and utter crap, seals didn't look good and it just didn't sit right at all. I phoned AutoGlass and my insurer and insisted that the job was redone with the branded Audi glass. They agreed to this without any bother. The guy then came to fit the Audi glass and said he was happy enough to work away while I went in to the house, no, no, no my friend, I will stand and politely chat to you whilst you fit it and watch you like a hawk at the same time. He was happy enough that I stayed (sort of) interestingly he did admit to me that the difference in the quality of the glass is actually massive, with the pattern glass costing about a third of the Audi glass.

In the end the new Audi screen looked 100%, interesting to see the admission of difference in quality from the guy who did the repair compared to the original lad who told me there was no difference whatsoever.

So I would ask for the exact windows that are in the car Jonny, not a cheap replacement.

I always replace my windscreen on any nice car I get. The Z had minor pitting over the screen and I was more than happy to pay £75 for a new one to be fitted. I'm guessing if you asked BMW to supply and fit the cost would be £500+.
