Driving to work this morning down the lovely M1 at Sheffield and out of nowhere, bouncing across the carriageway appears a blue plastic chemical container (I think that's what is was).

Suddenly appeared in the headlights then, bang on offside front.

Got to work and found the below :thumbsdown:

The bumper had been pushed up above the wing, but that seemed to just snap back. The black fill was sitting in the hole, but the tow cover is long gone....

An expensive week ahead and I've only had my Zed 2 weeks :x

Annoying, but on the bright side, it could have been much worse. As for spending, you'll need to get used to that on a Z if you want to keep it nice.
 
It's not much to put right, less than 100 but painting the tow eye cover might be tricky in terms of costs

It's the tow eye cover cost that worries me. I feel a call to the dealer may be in order...

Why would a zed cost you any more to keep looking nice than any other car!? :roll:
 
I feel a mod. is required here.
Need to glue a piece of string to that little access panel and attach to car.
Going to be far cheaper than the hassle to buy and spray a new one in the future.
So why didn't BMW design it so that its attached to the car.
Little things like that would show a little thought as gone into the design.
Must be really annoying on a brand new car.

It could have been a lot worse! :cry: bit higher and it might have been into the windscreen...

Hopefully being new the colour should not be too hard to match for the spray, but I'll see what they say on Saturday.
 
I was passenger in a car once when a piece of metal pipe about 6" long came bouncing over from the opposite carriageway. We were doing about 70mph and I watched it in slow motion as it tumbled towards us. There was no way we could manoeuvre quickly enough to avoid it. It hit the bonnet of the car and then hit the windscreen at the top, just under the roof. Left a huge gash in the bonnet and completely smashed the windscreen. I count myself lucky that it didn't penetrate the glass though. I think if it hadn't been deflected by the bonnet it probably would have gone through. I was pretty shaken. By some macabre coincidence a week or so later I read about a woman who was killed (head taken clean off) when the metal carcass of a cat's eye hit the car her husband was driving. It went straight through the windscreen.

So - I know you're feeling bad about this, but take the longer term view and be grateful that the damage is light and no-one was hurt!

Because it deserves to be looked after better than any other car. DUH! ;)
 
Tow eye cover is about 10 pounds. You can buy a can of bmw spray and lacquer from the dealer for about 16.00.

I lost mine a few years back. You can tie it to the car, there is an eyelet on the back of the cover if I recall. :thumbsup:

About a tenner in primer of they will supply a painted one for about £40 assuming their prices are the same as for a E87
