Yep, you are right. He gave up about an hour and a half away and turned back. We have just got back from betws y coed now, the drifts were pretty bad in places, we had to give up on our snowdon walk today. Attached some pics, no zed though I left it tucked up at home.
You get the idea.....

I think coming from either the North or East he'd have had a tough drive, so he made the right decision. If he'd made it through he probably wouldn't have believed his eyes to see the snowless landscape this side of the hills!
Mrs2Alps is off up to Bangor on Tuesday so she'll see some of the white stuff on her way through Snowdonia...from here we can see the orb-like peak in the distance glowing with its snow covering 8)
As for snow...none here Damn cold, though!

Damn cold, though!It was quite odd, the amount of snow changed depending on height. So some parts of our journey were really bad but the valleys hasn't even seen a dusting. On our way over penny pass we had a hairy moment with a coach (god knows why they decided to use that road).. The roads were no good for the zeds so it was a good call to cancel the weekend, the layby opposite the swallow was alright and the roads around that area but as soon as you hit the high ground it was drift central.
Sounds about right, but we went 15miles inland and uphill from us today (where usually they get 'weather'), and there was no snow there, either! So, it appears to have been quite localised in the North and East of the country. We've had a totally snow-free winter at home, and it's been bliss
Took the dogs for a hike this afternoon and observed several impotent brass monkeys, but no snow.
