North Wales Run September 5th

Not sure if anyone is planning to camp this time. There are plenty of Travelodge type hotels nearby to our start point.

as mentioned elsewhere, I'm thinking of having another North Wales run and after the success of the National Meet and the spring North Wales meet hopefully we can get a good attendance. I've decided Sunday will be best, roads quieter, easier fo people to get to. Anyone interested??

Interested!

So, what's available for accomodations in that neck of the woods? Camping, cheap hotels? I'm undecided on camping again....of course it will probably be lots better an more fun if I'm not sick like the last time.

I've just given my spare bed away to my sister but you're more than welcome to pull up a sofa at chez-baxendale in Manchester

And on another note - our resident pro-photog is short of a ride as Ms Barber is out of the country!?!? Can anyone give him a lift from Rotherham area? :\

ill give him a lift if my better half doesn't want to join me- will check with her then let russ know

I'll probably come and join you all on this. Shouldn't put too many miles on the car either. :P

Where are you planning on heading to? I can help out with some fantastic route options if needs be. :)

EDIT- Just seen the proposed route up Llanberis pass etc. Seems a shame to travel so far along the A55 just for some tunnels but I suppose it gets you to Llanberis fast enough.

Llanberis pass is notoriously rough but a great road, from there you can either- head down NantGwynant pass into Beddgelert, take the A4085 towards PenrhynD, then the B4410 to Maentwrog (stunning road with lots of twists and elevation changes and a pub at the end for grub  ), up to ffestiniog and then over the Migneint towards Bala before taking the B4501 to Cerrig to hit your EVO triangle (which is grossly overrated by the way). :)

Or for a faster alternative after Llanberis pass head down into Betws then up the A470 to Blaenau (super fast/smooth road that's like a track) before again hitting the Migneint/Bala/Cerrig.

B5105 from Cerrigydrudion to Ruthin is mega as well (as is the A494 that would take us back through Mold to the A55 Queensferry start point). 8)

Just some options borne of local knowledge, not wanting to interfere though if the route is planned. :?

DanEvs, you have talked yourself into helping keep the meet together :) I have a route in mind, we did the roads over to Bala in the Spring so was looking for something a little different. Will p.m. you nearer the time and if you want you can help out you will be most welcome  Will add yu to the list.

Collaboration from the locals, I think this is looking like a stonker of a meet :)

Now we just need a tame police officer who can take *all* of the Welsh constabulary out on an almighty p155 up the night before and we have one hell of a meet on our hands...

Yeah,v much looking forward to this. just hope my knee gets a move on and heels. either way,i will be there/as the mrs can always drive,if necessary, lol :D

Siftah,u and pawn are going to be "meet" pro's by the end of the yr,haha (looks like u had a gd meet/pity i missed out!!) :driving:

Anyone taking g/f's or partners? or is this a gentlemans (term used loosely) day out?

I'm either taking the girlfriend or a partner*.
*partner as in, the cowboy sense, like 'howdy partner'.. but not the brokeback style cowboy partner. Not that I'm against homosexual partnerships, but it's not for me... and no, siftah, despite your excellent cowboy hat, the possibility of matching boots, and a rather large tent, you don't have to worry. Well.. worry about me that is. Criag is still a concern if you ask me.....

Everybodies welcome!

There was even pets and children at the last Wales meet, we're an inclusive kind of forum :)

I asked the GF if she wanted to go, she said yes, but then I mentioned that we'd probably do the EVO triangle (I then had to explain what that was), and now she hasn't mentioned the trip or asked for any more details. She doesn't like going fast around corners. I'm still working on getting her to scream as loud as she can in the car (I have gotten screams from her, nevermind how 8) ). On the flip side, apparently she does supposedly get car sick so maybe I shouldn't take her.
