North Wales Driving Today

After reading the threads last week about driving in Wales, I decided to nip down to north Wales seeing as the weather forecast was so good this weekend.

Drove down to Chester after work on Friday arriving at the hotel about 8:30pm; this would give us a good start on the Welsh roads on Saturday morning.

Stopped off at the local car wash on the way home to get rid of all the salt. Tucked the M safely in the garage with exactly 300 miles clocked up on this trip.

Happy New Year folks :)

Some great photos there...

It's nice sometimes to drive in winter, I remember years ago having a late winter break in Scotland and driving hundreds of miles, and although it was slow going the sights were amazing and it was still a really enjoyable drive!

However, you're a Northerner, it should have been roof down :poke:

-7.5 degC, I didn't know it got that cold!

All very good, but why was the roof up? I did a few days in the lakes last week and roof was down all the time, even -6 at midnight

I've done plenty of topless miles over the years but I've not been feeling too good this weekend so kept warm inside with the roof up.

It would not have been a pretty sight; me with a stalactite of frozen snot hanging from the end of my nose, and a stream of tissues blowing out of the car like confetti, littering the landscape with my germs. So the roof stayed up :D

Did having a passenger make it a better or worse trip - i.e. did you get to have some 'fun'?

BTW, your photo...

...looks to be in the same spot as one of mine (the same twisted branch on the tree) - although I took mine from the wall on the other side of the road...

I prophecise/prophesize/prophesise foresee North Wales becoming full of Zs over the next year

Had a great time with the wife as passenger. All the "in-car" pics were taken by Kathryn.

I always have quite a large safety margin when driving. You can still have fun without being silly and endangering yourself, or others. Came in handy when a met a 3 series and a Lexus, who were driving with no consideration of others at all

Well spotted with the big twisty tree. I hadn't noticed that

Gotta say I love your Road Trips - your European Bash last year has us planning something similar for this year - Top Job Old Man :D
