As the weather in our neck of the woods is pretty great right now, I was wondering if anyone was thinking of planning a North East Meet. Last years had a great turn out and was enjoyed by all. As I am totally crap at organising anything, I was hoping someone else with the necessary skills was thinking the same thing?

I'd be up for a meet,like you alfie i 'm all for taking part but not so sure about the organising bit.My biggest nightmare would be organising one but then no one actually turning up :tumbleweed:

There was a small meet last year myself,robb,blue and robsmatetim(Blue Clio Sport) went out towards Alston on the hartside pass great run but the weather wasn't in our favour we had four seasons in one day.

This could be a possible route or another one over to the buttertubs pass. :thumbsup:

I'm probably up for a meet too (providing it doesn't clash with the Skye or Le Mans trips :) ). The one we ran from Helmsley in the North York moors in Sept (?) was fun too and no doubt I could dig out the route details (and retake the Sandsend slipway shot!) :driving: but one further north would be good too - I like the look of the one in Chris's link.

Now that Robb's gone soft and bought a 6 series - guess we're on our own!

Good call on the NYM run Tony would be good to do that one again,and definately a retake of the sandsend shot :camera:. :thumbsup:

Had a day off today and went out Richmond way, over buttertubs to Hawes and back via the winding roads. Tried to find the route we took last year but couldnt recall it exactly. The weather was amazing and it conviced me to try and arrange a meet sometime in the coming weeks.

How about we start a bit of a list of interested parties. I am thinking Sunday the 29th of May as I am working away from home for the next three weeks and thats the first free Sunday I have. So interested members so far are..........

But note to all that's the next bank holiday week-end.

p.s. How about sending a PM to Robb to see if he remembers the route?

Here's what he sent me back in March - maybe your local knowledge can fill in the blanks...

Meet - Scotch Corner Hotel car park (DL10 6NR) 9:30am leaving 10:00am, Sunday March 21st
* 1st stop – Whorlton Bridge
* 2nd stop – Stang top
* 3rd stop – some ford crossing on the moor (optional)
* Lunch Stop – Hawes, car park off Gayle Lane (petrol if reqd.)
* 4th stop – Leyburn
* Finish – Scotch Corner Hotel car park, say goodbyes and head home.

Estimated times/ mileage

* Scotch Corner TO Hawes – 46 miles, approx 1:45 with stops.
* Hawes Lunch – 45mins/ 1hr
* Hawes TO Scotch Corner – 32 miles, approx 1hr with stop.
* Probably get back to Scotch corner for roughly before 2pm. (We were way later than that)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What I basically want to do is just an informal drive up through some of my favourite local roads, a couple of stops, something to eat, then head home happy with an empty tank.

Proposed route would be something like, - meet at scotch corner hotel, nice and easy to find, head up to the A67 barny road, down over Whorlton Bridge, awesome little bridge which wobbles, well worth a look if your into that sort of thing. From there pick up the Stang road towards Langthwaite, along the reeth road and over the Buttertubs pass to Hawes for some food, back down the Hawes road to leyburn. From Leyburn up to Richmond and then home, this comes out back at Scotch corner so has good access.

and I remember stopping in Masham on the return leg, because that's where PCBung, Lucy, Bradders and me peeled off.

Probably be up for a meet depending on the date.

Drove from Ingleton over to Hawes. Buttertubs, Stang road. Castle Barnard, Alston, Penrith last week, some great roads ready for the national meet. :)

Well, if people are happy with the bank holiday Sunday, it looks like it would be good to follow the route from last time. Just told my other half in order to get a chit to attend. She laughed in my face when I said I was the organiser and reminded me of the surprise party I organised for her 30th birthday............I asked her where she wanted it to be held.

As it is, it looks like a very small convoy. Any more interest.

If you want to build numbers I can PM everyone who came to the last couple of meets - must be another 20-30 different people who came to Robb's previous runs (+ the one I helped run in NY Moors)

Cool, I appoint you as the official event organiser, Ill be the assistant and manage the Washington and Durham services meet up points. :thumbsup:

Whoa there! Just offering some admin support - it's still your meet :) Think of me as your glamorous assistant :o (A Debbie Mcgee to your Paul Daniels!!!)

Doubt I can make this either, hopefully away earning some pennies to counter Z4-Forumitis.
However if I'm in the UK then who knows..........

It's a bad day for me. My birthday the day before and meant to be going out for a family meal on the Sunday.
Roads will be clogged with caravans as well. Had mine out over the easter weekend slowing down traffic no end. lol

I am interested but I'll have to check my diary and get back to you. Buttertubs is fantastic :driving: :thumbsup:
