NORTH EAST 'HOONS' - 27 July and 3 August

Delighted we've recently had more forum members hoping to join our meet on Sunday.

Steph and I have been out checking the route and we feel there is a need for a section after our return to Hexham from Alston. There's time to head out to Blanchland and the lovely north road around Derwent Reservoir before returning to the Classic Car Café for our finish. (From the café we can either take the A69 fast route back to the A1 and our start point or we have an alternative back route we enjoy - it's up to you and time constraints).

Although the current hot spell might not continue through to Sunday, the forecast weather is looking ok - the high pressure may give way to a slight low, any light showers are forecast for the late afternoon. These are shown as starting after 1600 hrs on the BBC 5 day forecast and even later at Hexham.

Then we just have to hope for kindly traffic conditions - we shall see. . . .

:driving:

Hi all,

Will pm you all with my mobile tel number in case of problems.

Particularly if you are unable to attend - please do let me know so that we don't hang around waiting for you at the start - a text will do thanks.

Steph and I were out for our last recce this morning.

We're hoping to be on the road at 10am remember so if you think you may be delayed also give me a call - we'll arrange to wait or sort out an agreed meet up point.

Paul :driving:

:driving: not long now :) just a question , is there a filling station at TESCO so I can top up my fuel tank. Sorry if the question has already been asked , but I would have to trawl through 7 pages :D

I used Goole street view on the post code Paul had provided, and yes there appears to be a filling station there :)

There is also a Shell station not to far away as well which I shall be stopping at

Apologies. . .

I've deliberately chosen Tesco's car park as there are toilets and petrol available (and space) - should have made that clear.

There's also petrol at Alston and Hexham (and toilets where we stop).

:driving:

Hi peter,

Yeah there's a filling station on the Kingston car park for everyone to top up if needs be and it's a tesco's I believe. :driving: :D

Looks like the weather is still going to be good with just the possibility of a few showers around 2pm onwards, so hopefully we might miss those :D

Just got back from the Sunderland Airshow - very relaxing day. :)

That's how I've interpreted the weather too Nick - car all cleaned and ready too.

Can't comment on the shorts Peter!

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Paul and Steph

We are setting off in about 20 mins. Its a cracking day here in Edinburgh, the sun is shining and looks like we are all in for a great days weather and driving  :driving:

See you all later :D

Let's hope we can dodge the showers. . .

Sunshine and a breeze this morning which has dried the roads of the rain which fell last night.

20 degrees C so should be pleasant.

We shall see. . . .

:driving:
