Hi Richard,

For info (and so others who might be considering the run don't get the wrong idea):

It's not my intention to be travelling anything like that speed. Spirited, safe driving where appropriate - and we will be recognising speed limits for obvious reasons and to avoid unwanted points. Nevertheless, with luck regarding traffic, there will be challenge and fun to be had on our favourite back roads and the routes we've chosen - we will still be able to enjoy the very reason why we bought our Zeds. I expect those attending to recognise we are on public highways shared with other drivers, motorcyclists and cyclists. My wife and I determined that we would not continue any runs where we thought the driving was dangerous or inappropriate. We've been on two Nationals, Lake District and several Scottish runs since we joined the forum. I have always complimented the driving I've experienced on these runs and be aware that - just like you - if I felt driving styles were inappropriate, Steph and I would not continue to take part. That being the case it is our intention to offer a varied and enjoyable day on some of our favourite back roads and some wonderfully scenic roads. There are also many 're-assembly points' on the routes we've chosen - there are separate sections and we'll all be together before setting off for the next. All members attending will get a route sheet and our mobile number in case of problems. Hope this will be reassuring to you and anyone else considering joining us.

Steph and I hope you can make it on the day.

Paul :driving:

Paul,
My comment was in no way directed at you or how you organise your run, it was in response to Jacks comment about my not having attended a run for some time and the reasons behind that decision.
I organised a run some time ago and one member constantly made reference to the fact 'we drive faster on the National' I wasn't aware my run was a race and my intention was to keep the group together as much as possible, that said the run did finish with some spirited driving across the Dalveen Pass.
We have also witnessed some incredibly stupid overtakes on blind corners and it just stopped the runs being enjoyable for us, hopefully next Sunday will makeme reevaluate my attendance of the runs in the future, assuming we get the work done at my Dads.

Hope that makes sense.

Richard.

No problem Richard - it gave me a chance to outline how I saw the run and that's important - especially for anyone considering whether to attend or not.
I suggest all new attendees read through the run etiquette outlines on the forum runs road trip section - they give an excellent outline of what to expect.
I will be holding a drivers briefing before we set out and then it really is mostly about the traffic (and weather) - we shall see. :)

Are there any meet rules?

Hi El Taco - thinking of coming along? Would be good to meet you.

Rules not the right word I think; there is an expectation that forum members attending will have read through the etiquette for runs posted on the forum road trip run section. Also, reading through the posts above will give some idea of expectations.

It would be useful to know who is attending too so a heads up via this post would be helpful.

I will be holding a drivers' briefing at the start

Finally if anyone has questions or concerns they can either post or pm me - no problem.

The intention is to enjoy Zed ownership on lots of different levels.

Let me know if you're able to attend - as I said - it would be great to see you there.

Paul :driving:

Hi Paul,

Can me and my little Alpina join in on both runs? Never done any local runs for a while and the national meet has fired me up for more. :driving:

Cheers,

hi, just for info, do you go to meets with your other half's in toe or go alone or does it not matter. The wife would love to come along.

Hi Richie,

I always think it's brilliant if other halves come too - share the experience!

Some come on their own - and prefer it - runs out aren't for everyone - some always come with partners.

I'm lucky in having a wife who loves being out in and driving the Zed (just as she enjoyed our biking too - she has a full bike licence). She enjoys our spirited but safe runs out and it's our preferred hobby/pastime. It'll be great to meet your partner too so do bring her along - sound like she'll love it!

:driving:

She does enjoy a ride out but more of a leisurely ride, she is trying it on the back of my bike but not overly keen on that, im hoping she will enjoy Sunday, hoping the weather is good, its nice to here your other half has a bike licence, not many women go for a bike licence, Think the wife would struggle, im only 5'7 but the wife's only 5' don't think she could reach the floor on many bikes lol

There are lots of points on the route where we will re-assemble if needed so everyone can travel at their own pace and enjoy the run.

The forecast on Sunday hour by hour shows - dry and sun until middle of the afternoon when light showers are forecast - we shall see. . . :)

:driving:

Paul,

I'm planning on making the long drive up to join your meet on Sunday if that's Ok. :) At the moment I intend to get to your meeting point. I'll probably head back towards Liverpool at some convenient point mid-afternoon. I'll p.m. you my mobile number. Looking forward to a good day's drive. :driving:

Well that'll be great John! Hope we match up to your high standards. :o

Plenty of opportunities to head off to the A68 or M6 if needed.

(After the National - not surprised you want to get on the route with your own //M).

Here's to a good run - be great to see you.

Paul and Steph :driving:
