North East England 16th May

Just wanted to say what a great day it was - my first meet and after only a week of Zed ownership. Looking forward to the next one. Next time i may try to avoid getting lost so early on - 500 yds from the meeting point was a tad silly  but Spud and i did find some nice roads trying to catch up with everyone.

That definitely made me and Tweed feel better about getting lost at the first bridge though, so thanks for that! :)

And I guess we got to have our Fish 'n' Chips earlier, so every cloud has a silver lining :)

Come to the national meet in july, and enjoy a z4 convoy for longer! This meet seemed to fight us all morning- not helped by a slow 350z who kept creating gaps. Still fun and hoped we showed it's not just a car for hairdressers! :)

Haha, yeah, was very silly/annoying that. But like you say, some of the fast bits we got through as a pair/threesome (ooh err, missus) were cracking. And then the final little drive back to Scotch Corner had some great bits when there were about 6 of us.

Yeah, there was a slow driver, but after 6 years of organising meets, Im used to it.
People will only drive to their own pace. and I would rather them drive at thier comfortable speed, than to have to call the emergency services and have to live with something for the rest of my life because someone on one of my meets wanted to try and keep up.

Lexx - no-one would disagree, and everyone can run at their own speed - better safe than sorry. Did contribute towards the splits though - that's the point I was making. :) p.s. good photos on their forum - link on first page

People can only drive to their limits mate. When you go beyond that, car get damaged, people or ego's get hurt.

Totally agreed - busier roads and lots of cars mean we're always going to get split up.

Plus, at the speed we were going, it's very difficult to catch up once you make a wrong turn. At the Wales meet we had to stop lots to wait for the stragglers, it seems inevitable. I think the only probs we had were that we didn't all know the route so it was difficult to rejoin once we got split up - I was at the back so that was my fault :)

Walkie Talkies - route maps for all who are there (electronic on sat navs or paper copies if you don't have sat nav), stop at corners to wait for people where possible and above all, don't pressure anyone to drive faster or feel pressured to drive out of your comfort zone.

I had a great day, can't wait for the next one.

Totally agree that people have to drive at a speed they feel comfortable with. Can be annoying though when you're stuck behind them.

..but not as annoying as travelling at cyclists pace, 2-wide, uphill !

Thats what headlight washers are for! - Once you' ve got past them a good cool blast of washer fluid in the face reminds them that some folk want to go faster!

If only you were there, we could have put that into action  but of course I wouldn't want to splash anyone in a roadster with the top down too
Note to self - adjust washers for July meet!

Trust me it works and us bods in roadsters dont get wet if over 20mph - Not that it would matter for the end result! :D
