I'm going to be over there in July this year. I'll be treating my buddy (see this thread... http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=75510 ) again.

(what can I say, it's part of my own personal 'bucket list'. This time, A 2015 Ferrari 458 spyder).

Starting in Huddersfield... where are some GOOD roads to go, preferably twisty, up and down, and some places to make me homesick (I'm English, but lived in the U.S. for 35 years).

Are you planning on heading North from Huddersfield? And are you planning on heading out Whitby way?

Plenty of nice roads to drive in either case :D

Not sure, planning on a full day out going 'VROOM' ( Lots of 'vrooming'!).

I trust the guy, we have some similar interests, including (but not limited to) railway museums, canals, Victorian architecture, cars (duh!), that kind of thing.

Me, I grew up in Lancashire (and occasionally take the piss out of him 'cos we won the 'War of the Roses'!). I lived in Buxton in Derbyshire for a few years (and was an RAC/ACU motorcycle instructor there taking 'kids' out on the 'fun' roads).

just looking for some ideas that y'all (American phrasing, I've lived here for 38 years, it kinda grows on ya, capische?) might have that would add to the experience.

There's certainly some places that I want to visit (like the Jorvik museum, since I'm part viking!). This time around tho, it's the driving experience.

I live in New Jersey, 20 some miles from 'Noo Yoik', while there are some great country roads they aren't' the same. See
as an example.

I'm 7-8 years away from retirement, Yorkshire is on the list of the few places I intend to move to ( mainly because that's where my bff is).

So, suggestions welcome.

This is a quick post before I hit the hay but if you can drive to Skipton, take the A65 to Ingleton, turn north there and head for Hawes, stop along the way at Ribblehead viaduct (30m tall, ticks trains, Victorian and architecture - oh, and vroom - all in one go), stop at the Wensleydale cheese centre at Hawes (cheesy, you'll love it) and then head north up Buttertubs Pass (complete with sheep, stunning views with unbelievable scenery - see Tour de France footage from last year), you'll probably never have to drive a car again. I have some recent photos if the internet isn't being helpful.
There are another thousand routes like this one. See you in less than 7 years. Only book a single ticket, like, you won't use the return if you do the above route.
