North 500

I’m heading up to complete the North 500 at the end of August stopping off at Loch Lomond on route to Inverness and then first night of the route will be at Ackergill Tower Castle in Wick. I’ve got the map and route guidebook but would be interested if anybody on the forum can recommend any hotels along the west coast from their own experiences. I’ve allowed myself three nights to do the route which will limit the places I can get to but any tips would be greatly appreciated.

We stayed at The Old School and Restaurant at Inshegra, Kinlochbervie IV27 4RH its basic rooms but very clean and as t he title suggests its own restaurant which was very nice
We also stayed at The Torridon at Achansheen, Torridon IV22 2EY if you want to splash the cash its very nice indeed :D
Hope you have a great time

You may struggle to get a room at this stage. We done it in July but booked it at Christmas. If you get the weather, you’ll love it.

They’ve got plenty of rooms available starting at £350 night and that’s without breakfast! It does look pretty amazing I think they may be missing a trick with rates that high.

Further investigation shows that you can stay at the Inn next door for £140 a night with breakfast. So on reflection a night there with dinner in the hotel is a great compromise.

You could go one step further and stay at the the hostel for £50! If you’re on a budget I can recommend the Dundonell Hotel, Hartfield House (Applecross) and Ben Loyal Hotel (Tongue). The Kylesku Hotel is great but a little bit more pricey.

I had never heard of the north 500 till this week, but looking at the hotel prices reminded me that it was always a bit pricey up there, Im now thinkin of doing it but in my motorhome.

Not quite a motorhome, but this is where the wife and I stayed in Clashnessie:

Torridon Inn booked for the Saturday night so just looking for something in between there and Loch Lomond on the penultimate night now. The Scottish kids are back at school this week so there does appear to be more places available to stay!

Can’t wait..... :trampoline: :trampoline: ...
