Normal,Sports,+ Differences?

Hey all, still getting to know my 35IS and have a question regarding what the difference is between these 3 modes. I am aware that throttle response is increased, adaptive suspension is adjusted etc. Are their any major differences other than these?

Additionally why does sports + feel so much faster than sports.

Does sports + turn traction control off?

Thanks

There's a thread or two on here that covers this but essentially it's throttle map, auto shift points, adaptive suspension response and yes in plus it lessens traction control. There's also a fuelling change to make the exhaust pop a bit more out of normal mode.

Always use sports mode, seems to prefer it and me of course.Have also tried sports + mode with traction control off.also seems to be more responsive. Not a normal type of person if you get my drift.Love the growl from the twin pipes as well.

Hi, sports+ partially relinquishes traction control giving the engine a bit more free reign

BMW do like to make it a bit complicated, as when they refer to DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) being on, this allows more wheel spin than normal - which is probably the opposite of what people think when a traction control setting is turned on.

From another forum but backs up my understanding:
Don't touch the DTC button: DSC is on (prevents wheel slipping when starting off, and provides stability in corning).
Press button once/sports+ mode: DSC still on, but DTC now on (which allows some slipping of wheels, to facilitate starting in snow, for instance). But DSC still being on means you still have cornering stability system on.
Press and hold button for ~10 secs.: both DSC & DTC off

Think that's right anyway, seems to be backed up by the below:

The exhaust pops more in sport because the fuel cut has a longer delay after letting off the pedal. The delay is 1.25 seconds in normal mode, then 2.5 in sport.

The exhaust flap also behaves differently (providing you haven't done the golf-tee mod) depending on sport mode setting and the position of the roof.

Not tried the sport+ mode on a 23i yet as always fear I'll spin off the road. From the above, looks like it is safe to use on the roads as opposed to track only? I always use sports, much more fun.

Sport+ should be fine on the roads, just be aware you'll get more slip/wheel spin before the TC kicks in.
