The in-laws neighbour reversed into me this morning :(

Poor guy was devastated though so spent time calming him down before looking at the damage. Managed to get the big dent out of his Merc with some boiling water which was good.

Lots of it down to the plastic unfortunately. Gonna cost him a few quid sadly

Absolutely. Nobody hurt so not worth getting too upset about. I'm more about the guy. He was extremely upset

At least he owned up to causing the damage! A small compensation.

What a complete imbecile. How did they manage to hit your car?

I can understand vehicle collisions whilst driving, but when someone's reversing or driving out of their own driveway (I assume that's what they were doing), it comes down to a complete lack of attention.

Showing way more compassion than i would have  the thought of a virtually new Porsche losing the factory paint finish would have me bouncing off the ceiling

The plot thickens...

Since this morning I've had a coolant low warning and a very clear leak. Checked the radiator location...

Porsche Assist on their way for a look

 Not what you need Greg but good on you for being so nice about it to an obviously upset old boy....top marks sir...!

There's no way the neighbour is going to pay for this out of their own pocket now  that's an insurance job.

People like you Sir make the rest of us look bad. I'd not have been so understanding. No, in fact I would have made Gretta Thunberg look sweet.

I spent too many years getting angry over things.

Each to their own, and I totally understand all approaches, feelings and reactions but I'm not personally going to get aggressive with an old man for an accident he immediately owned up to and was clearly distraught about :idunno:

Looks like it's heading down the insurance route  be wary of informing your own insurance at any point or it will be detrimental to your future premiums whether you are protected NCB or not.

That'll be nice and expensive to fix even if it's only for a repaint at Porsche, think it was over 1500 quid to have the rear bumper, diffuser replaced and painted on my old M135i at BMW, so if you need a new rad etc a couple of grand I imagine. At least you have the person who did it, mine was a hit a run so consequently I had to go through the insurance with the car being on BMW finance and hence my renewal premium almost doubled.

I can sympathise, just carelessness and some people shouldn't be behind the wheel. Does the other person wear glasses, did they have them on.

Tim.

We’ve all made silly mistakes ( I nudged a bright yellow grit bin with her ladyships new Audi A4 because I knew better than the parking sensors) and the fella has owned up to it The Porsche body shop will do a first class job. My new 35is was in a Porsche approved place before I even drove it (not accident damage) and I defy anyone to tell me it’s been repainted.

Really sad to see that Greg, but you've taken it remarkably well.

I don't think I would have been so understanding!

Not a perfect day then. Looks like it should be straight forward to sort. MrsG got her car back from the paint shop for the second time in a month on Friday. Yours will be looking spic and span in no time I'm sure.

Can I bring up a bit of a rub? Will there be any value loss when years from now you go to sell and the carfax shows an accident?
