Hi guys new here I am thinking of a new shape z4..I currently drive a 5door Audi A3 thats now 4.5 years old and time for a change!

I am looking at either a new one ££££ :( or a nearly new one from BMW Approved, is there anything I need to look out for on the used stuff...

I am looking at the entry level 23i (I Think thats what its called)

Any options are a must for resale...leather for example?

Thanks Guys

Chris

Do it...

Just in case you didn't get that the first time..
Do it.

As to options. I am a fair believer in buying the car that suits you and not the one that will hold it's value best.
Seriously if you are worried about residuals just get a second hand polo or something.
But, if you look at approved cars you will get a flavour of what most people prefer in options.

Remember BMW are giving free nav and connectivity at the moment. So get those!!
On top of that I would suggest a metallic colour and leather seats if you want good resale.

Autos also hold better residuals but manual would be more fun in the 23i

Seat heating is probably recommended for resale.

But I want to echo earlier point.... Only get the options you want/need, not the ones the next owner will want

Ps I got almost all options knowing that it will add little to resale but make me enjoy the car more.
At this price, you are going to have to accept a certain amount of money haemmorhaging...even with AUC

Would agree with that. You're buying for you, not for the next owner.

Thanks guys was looking at

23i Manual

Blue of some sort

With Black Leather and Heated Seats

Possibly Sat Nav...but if its free then yes!

Also is there any good sites for getting discounts..

When I got the A3 I used Drive the deal for ammo with the new car but BMW are not on drive the deal....

I got a price from Broadspeed and then took it to BMW who matched it. In terms of the conundrum of buy new/used, then largely it boils down to whether ur going to buy out right or used. I found that using finance a 5k cheaper AUC to the same spec was gonna cost the same a month with the same deposit as a new one. Which is due to current low APR's, discounts on new and the GFV being higher on a new one. If ur buying in cash, then it's AUC all the way. :)

Just had a look down the local dealer at lunch...the bonnet is massive on it! So front parking sensors needed too lol

Finance4cars is a good place to start for discounts, but in this climate 10% should be available on a 2.3 at a stealer, if your after finance then I would look at Clydesdale banks asset finance, a lease purchase scheme and the car can be up to a year old

Sports seat and the stereo upgrade are the two other extras I would recommend, unless you hate music that is.

Oracle are good on finance but they can only finance used BMW from dealers, due to a conflict on a product the sell which is owned by BMW

Its got a 6pot under the bonnet...who needs music lol

I am going to look at a used one at the weekend bmw AUC 60plate in red 2000miles on it

I dont know how much margin they have in AUC, but they gave me a cost to change of £14900 with the P/X of the A3...which seems high to be honest

If you're buying new pay the extra money for the usb connector if you don't have i-drive, i didn't being anti digital music and iphones etc but now i regret it, £70 new £600+ after sales. Buy the biggest engine you can aswell, i started speccing the 23i but after driving one was disappointed and decided that if i was buying a car that looked fast, it needed to be able to go fast, the sound aswell from the exhaust and from the stereo is important. I upgraded the speakers one step but still not sure the system is really up to the job.
