Non smoker pack

Evening All, does anyone know if there is or was a non smoker package for the Z4. I want to remove the ashtray and 12v socket and put in a larger rubber covered tray to carry my phone. I have this in my e92 and is perfect to put your iPhone in however in the Z I have nowhere to put my phone except wedge it in the passenger seat inbtween the leg extension piece.

Where does everybody put your phones?

Cheers.

No other options were available, although a few have made custom mounts for phones in the ashtray.

My phone is plugged into a lighter socket charger and sits under the handbrake behind the gear leaver. But it is a Berry, so perhaps the iphone is to large to do this ?

I bought a £3.50 holder off eBay. Works perfectly. Just clips into the air vent - and doesn't come loose no matter how hard I drive.

A friend has a mat on his dash, and the phone just sticks to it. Might be another option.

Can the camera work with your setup?

I put my iPhone either in the hole behind the handbrake, or in the glove box connected to the iPhone dock. Off subject a bit but my iPod dock doesn't charge the phone, do I need to buy the connection that goes in the phone dock to make it charge?

My current phone will also wedge corner first in the ashtray whilst being charged, but its imminent replacement will likely not fit any of the above. As such, I'm soon to be in the same position as you Telstar.

I have the non smoker pack, so my ash tray is a storage tray and I have a rubber grommet for the 12v power instead of the lighter.

Pics please ... have never seen this. Can one swap out the 'smoker pack' version for the non=smoker version?

Yes, one can indeed. Take out ashtray, dispose and insert new tray :)

This is good info as my iPhone tends to fly around my car when I'm driving. The bit behind the handbrake is not ideal. Will try the wedge in the passenger seat.

The non-smoker 'ash-tray' is easily puchased from the dealers - swap out is simple too - but wouldn't store an iphone in there as it would fly around. Useful for coins, if you can put up with the rattles :)

Part numbers are from realoem : Get the part 06 (51167026220 ) for the insert and 08 (51168222183 ) for the stopper. Part 07 is the standard ashtray

BTW - I replaced mine with a custom job (like others on here) that would hold my iphone 4 and charge it. Shown here with a standard ipod as my DICE doesn't integrate with iphone 4 (so need to upgrade :headbang: ) - also dusty as just come back from a long drive :D :

Don't waste your money, there is no gain in space between the 2 packages, both "ashtrays" are same size, only difference is smokers ashtray has on the right side a plastic piece above the light for putting out your cigarette, which btw just lifts out for cleaning.

I like the tip of slotting the phone in wedge of leg extension. Changed my driving experience. This forum can be pretty useful.
