Non-runflats on runflat rims?

Found a small bulge in the sidewall of one of my Michelin runflats. The tyres are not that old but fitted by previous owner, so no real comeback with the fitting centre. BMW dealer themselves I believe. As I can't stretch to the expense of a full set of non-runflats to put on my Z4 just yet I have to replace the one faulty tyre at this time.

However, in the near future I had planned to fit a full set of something like the Vredertein Ultrac Sessanta (excuse the spelling there  ). This was till my usually very good tyre factor told me they would not fit these tyres on RFT rims. I have the 108s. They say that only runflat tyres can be safely fitted to runflat rims. I'm sure that some of you guys have done just that, so - is it safe?

Confused so confused. :? :? :?

Lots and lots of threads on tires. Do a search and you'll be kept busy for a while. In essence, though, you're good to go --you can fit non-rfts to rft wheels but not vice-versa.

As Smokin says search - pointless really posting a direct response as it's been covered in real dpeth many times. Bottom line though is members here inc me have covered hundreds of thousands of miles on them

Must admit I have a very similar question - specifically, will non-runflat tyres fit the MV2 (Coupe Si) rims ok? I've tried searching but cannot find mention of these particular rims.

Yes - the only difference on a rim desiged for run flat tyres is they have an extra lip inward of the bead to prevent the tyre moving to the centre of the rim when driven deflated. The rest is the same as a standard rim.

You will of course never find any BMW official response to say they can be fitted, nor detailed mention of any and all specific rims or tyre combos,so you must satisfy yourself.
