Non Run-flats with Good Rim Protection

There's lots of great info on the site about various non-run flats.

I went with Pirelli P Zero Rosso's as it was all Kwik-Fit had miles from home on a Sunday when I got a blowout.

They are getting low and I've started to look for a non-run flat with better rim protection, the Rosso's have none.

I like the look when wheels sit in the tyre, not 'on' it. The Eagle F1 seems to be good for rim protection, any other recommendations? Then again Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's are on offer at £109 for 255/35R18 at Camskill:

Am I fine going to 265/35 R18 for a bit more rim protection? Here's some photos:

Pirelli's - hardly any protection:

Goodyear NCT 5 - Much more:

Thanks!

The Dunlop SP Sport Maxx seems like a very good tyre. Comes with a decent amount of rim protection. Judging by reviews there is plenty of grip to be had with the bonus of being a relatively quiet tyre. Depending on size you are looking at around £140 per corner.

I had some Ultrac Sessanta's fitted to my rears before my Falkens, they had really good rim protection, much better than the Falkens. still prefer the Falkens over all though.

I think it's going to come between the Ultrac's and Falkens. Why did you prefer the Falkens Speed12? Grip?

Thanks,
Dave

Agree with that choice. I run Goodyear's F1 Asymmetrics myself, best rim protection available anywhere.

It is klarky, what happened to the rear lol - DIY acid dip?!

Thanks again everyone, just the info I needed.

No I leave a good distance :D

My boss has a 911 and the wheels (IMO) look so much better when they sit 'in' the wheels - like in your sig.

The 107 rims almost sit proud of the Pirellis and look a bit pants.

Seems odd to choose a tyre on aesthetics but since there are so many recommended ones might as well use that to sway me.

OK, I see where you are coming from, if you want pics of Falken 452's let me know, as they offer less protection on the rears, fronts are better.

Here's as good a shot as I could find quickly of the Vreds:

Eagle F1s are my tyre of choice - hopefully someone will have some the next time I need to change - over a month wait for the fronts previously. The Vreds have grown on me though

Eagle F1 Assy's it is, £150 for the 255/35/R18 on Camskill and only an extra £6 for the 265. Got to be worth £6 for an extra 10mm right :D
