Non-RFTs on front RFTs on back - MOT safe?

The car just failed it's MOT on front tyres bulging and bring close to minimum tread. I have RFTs at the moment and have had enough. Rather than £480 for two front tyres which are so uncomfortable they give me haemorrhoids, I have managed to get Vred Ultrac Sessantas for £600 all in. Only problem is they can only guarantee to have the fronts to me for tomorrow and the rears the day after at the latest.

I was just wondering, would this set up pass the MOT? I have a compressor and tyre weld already and it would be purely to get me through the re-test tomorrow to save me paying for another test.
 
Ask the MOT station?!

I'd imagine it'd pass as the tyres are matching on each axle - I belive that's the important part but could be wrong (this isn't fact!). It's obviously not recommended to do much driving with a mix of RFTs and non-RFTs, but for a period of 24hrs you'd be OK IMO.
 
I tried but couldn't get a straight answer. It was the dealers as it is the last MOT under AUC warranty so my experience before has been they will always push you towards the RFTs.
 
It's more the issue of having two non-RFTS up front and two RFTS on the rear. Just phoned and spoke to the service manager who said it should be fine. It might not be a problem at all as the garage is hoping to have all four tyres for me tomorrow.
 
Not an expert on the MOT but it terms of diff types on front and rear it didnt cause me a probs, the critical improvement was changing the rears
 
Well changed my front two for Vreds this morning and now just waiting on the MOT retest. The garage should have my rears in stock for me for tomorrow morning.
