Non Franchise BMW Specialist

Hi Folks

Can anyone recommend a non franchise BMW specialist in the Newcastle Upon Tyne area as I am having serious issues with my Z4 and she has been in to Coopers who after a long story (see my other thread here http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=82143) have agreed to put her back together with all the faulty parts back on and not charge me anything.

It would seem the DSC unit has failed and they were fitting several units to try and find the fault some of which I was going to have to pay for and others they were taking back off. The story is longer than that as the car is just over 4 years old and covered 8500 miles and due to my having a very limited RAC warranty Coopers refused to ask for a good will gesture from BMW.

Cheers, a very sad Z4 owner.

It sounds a sorry saga.
How come a 4 year old car, that was on a PCP hasn't got full BMW history. Bought 5000 miles.
What history would it have at that mileage.
Why BMW so keen to get rid of through non BMW dealer.
It's a pity you couldn't get in touch with the previous owner and find out the story.
Could it be it had a 3 year warranty, the fault appeared out of, big job no one wanted to pay, so it was 'moved on'.

Apparently if a car is under a PCP deal the car belongs to BMW finance and not the dealer and as such they send the returned cars to auction.

She has had one BMW dealer service at around 5000 miles so was done on a mileage basis and not time.

I did chat with the original owner just after I bought the car and there were no issues at all or so he said.

I use this guy called Scott. He's used to work for bmw really good decently priced as well pop in and mention I (craig) advised you to go. He just works on his own but he's always gothe time for people and he's a great guy.

Hi Chaps, many thanks for all of the info and replies - she is now with Prestige German Cars in South Shields.

I knew of them and mentioned them to the original selling retailer who agreed for me to take the car there as they have a good reputation apparently.

They think it is the DSC/ABS unit and are checking how much it will cost to get a refurb unit with a lifetime warranty

Mentioned your problem to one of my customers that tunes BMW and Mercs.
He said he had a BMW dsc unit repaired for £150, so hopefully it won't cost to much to get yours fixed.

Its ridiculous that BMW cannot offer that service to help save their customers some money.
£1700 for a part is over the top.

Could not agree more and especially as the repaired unit comes with a lifetime guarantee where as the BMW replacement unit probably has a 12 month guarantee
